The Dodgers signed Jay Gibbons to a one-year major league deal worth $400K plus incentives, according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times. Gibbons, 33 earned a call up to the majors after hitting .347/.375/.594 in Triple-A this year. Gibbons didn't stop there as he put ended up posting a .280/.313/.507 line in 80 plate appearances for the Dodgers in 2010. This was completely expected on my part, and I fully expect the Dodgers to give him a shot filling the vacancy in left field now that Podsednik has voided his option for 2011 and becoming a free agent. The signing of Gibbons could break off whatever talks were left between Podsednik and the Dodgers. This is just fine by me, especially if Gibbons can stay healthy.The Dodgers signed Gibbons last January, despite the fact Gibbons had not been seen at the major league level since 2007.
