LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Yasiel Puig homered with two outs in the 11th inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.
Cincinnati pitchers set a franchise record with 20 strikeouts. Puig, Adrian Gonzalez, Hanley Ramirez and Tim Federowicz each fanned three times as the Dodgers established their highest single-game total for strikeouts since the franchise moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles following the 1957 season.
Puig drove an 0-1 pitch deep into the left-field pavilion against rookie Curtis Partch (0-1) for his 10th homer and 23rd RBI in 48 big league games. The excitable rookie circled the bases and slid into home plate, where teammates were waiting for him.
The NL West leaders won for the 26th time in 32 games and extended their lead to 2 games over the Arizona Diamondbacks, who lost 1-0 to San Diego.
Brandon League (6-3) pitched two hitless innings for the win.

Yasiel Puig hits a walk-off home run against my favorite team to give the Dodgers a 1-0 win in extra innings, and he slides into home plate feet first to the arms of his awaiting teammates. I should hate this guy with every inch of my soul. But I don’t.
Puig is quickly becoming one of my favorite non-Reds players in baseball. He’s a flashy Cuban with a killer instinct that is...
Yasiel Puig, rookie phenom outfielder with the streaking Los Angeles Dodgers, added a walk-off home run to his resume today. In the bottom of the tenth inning in a 0-0 tie with the Cincinnati Reds, Puig (who struck out three times on the day) crushed a solo shot to center to give the Dodgers the 1-0 win.
One of my favorite parts about this is the end, with Puig sliding into home...
Yasiel Puig came to the MLB with high expectations from everyone, and he has definitely lived up to the hype. The Cuban baseball star was destined to be a star in the MLB. The game was tied 0-0, with Reds pitchers being able to...
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been on fire since an awful start to the season and rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig is a big reason why. Though his numbers have come down to Earth a bit after a blistering start, Puig proved that he’s destined to be a star once again on Sunday.

LOS ANGELES In a game where the Dodgers played for 10 and scoreless innings and set a new franchise record for strikeouts, there's only one player that could possibly come through with the game-winning theatrics: Yasiel Puig.
Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium, with one out and the game tied up 0-0 in the bottom of the 11th, Puig came up to bat against the Reds' Curtis...

Quote of the Day
”Each player does what he can when he gets to the plate. Some people jump, some people slide, some people run,” Puig said through a translator. ”I have a previous teammate in Cuba that jumped and hurt his ankle. So I decided to slide.”

Home Run of the Day: Yasiel Puig, Los Angeles Dodgers - 19.11* seconds [video]
Bottom of the 11th inning in a scoreless game. With one swing of the bat, Yasiel Puig grows his legend even more. As the ball sails over the fence, Puig flips his bat in triumph before setting off on this 19.11 second trot. With his teammates surrounding home and...
So Yasiel Puig’s antics yesterday made some people mad, because having fun in baseball makes you a terrible person or something.
Though I find it interesting how many people want to give their two cents about this when they ignore other people doing the same types of things all the time.
I wonder what the difference between them are? Not saying, I’m just saying.
The Atlanta Braves have opened up a substantial lead in the National League East, yet there is the feeling that the Braves are not a formidable team. A big reason for that is the NL East itself. The Braves are the only team in the division with a record above .500. The Braves also have only the 3rd best record in the National League and the Dodgers are the hottest team in baseball...
