Jbox from gaslampball.com, a San Diego Padres blog, was kind enough to answer some questions about the Rangers' weekend opponent. It will make Rangers fans cringe, but tell us about Adrian Gonzalez. The stats show he's having a solid season. Why is he hitting so well? How does he look in the field? Gonzalez started using a larger bat this season at the suggestion of Ryan Howard. While that may be part of the reason for his fast start, it probably has more to do with maturing as a player and his great work ethic. The problem is that Gonzalez has had zero protection in the line up in the absence of Hairston and Kouzmanoff. Hairston had an excuse he was on the DL, Kouz was just awful. With both back in form we may get to see Adrian on another hot streak. Gonzalez is a Gold Glove caliber defender, really the only problem with him is he is extremely slow and his quiet demeanor doesn't provide team leadership.
