The Dodgers have so far added five new players to their major league roster since July 25, but the most important acquisition just might be the first one. Hanley Ramirez, acquired 11 days ago from the Marlins, delivered his first walk-off hit as a Dodger on Sunday, a single to left field to give the Dodgers a 7-6 win and a sweep of the Cubs.

"When you play in front of your crowd and hear that noise, that moment just pumps you up," Ramirez said. "That's something I was looking for in coming here."

Ramirez is hitting just .238 (10-for-42) as a Dodger, but he does have a .347 on-base percentage and has driven in 11 runs in 11 games.

"I see life, energy in the bat, energy in the body. I think he's been a real good fit for us," said manager Don Mattingly. "You don't see Hanleys walking around too often, players with his kind of tools."

Though Sunday was the first walk-off hit for Ramirez, he also delivered a two-run home run in extra innings on July 27 to beat the Giants in San Francisco.

"We knew what we were getting with Hanley," said Andre Ethier. "We not only get him for this year, but for two years after this."

Ramirez is signed for two more seasons after this one, and the Dodgers will pay Ramirez, Ethier, and Matt Kemp a combined $51 million in 2013 and $52.5 million in 2014. If that middle of the order can produce like they did on Sunday, with four hits, four walks, four runs scored, and three RBI, the Dodgers will be in good shape.
