Cubs talented rookie Anthony Rizzo had three RBIs including a tying solo home run leading off the top of the ninth against Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen (5-3) after Ethier gave Los Angeles a 6-5 lead with a two-run double in the seventh against James Russell. The blown save was Jansen's sixth in 27 opportunities. Wrong Move Colletti: Dodgers DFA Tony Gwynn Jr

So I know the Dodgers are trying to upgrade the team as they head into the final months of the season. Trust me, I get it better than most. The Dodgers are clearly going for it, as they should, but I am a bit frustrated with a couple of the recent transactions. DFA victim one, Bobby Abreu? Really? Ned? Really? Who do I want coming off the bench with runners in scoring position?...

Ramirez delivers first walk-off hit for Dodgers

The Dodgers have so far added five new players to their major league roster since July 25, but the most important acquisition just might be the first one. Hanley Ramirez, acquired 11 days ago from the Marlins, delivered his first walk-off hit as a Dodger on Sunday, a single to left field to give the Dodgers a 7-6 win and a sweep of the Cubs. "When you play in front of your...

Gwynn is latest victim of Dodgers' roster makeover

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reshaped their roster in the last two weeks, adding five new players via trade. Monday, they cut their second veteran outfielder in five days as Tony Gwynn Jr. was designated for assignment. Gwynn, like Bobby Abreu before him, fell victim to a lack of playing time with the acquisition of Shane Victorino. Gwynn was used often as a defensive replacement...

Shane Victorino already on Dodgers teammates about arriving at park earlier

Shane Victorino has been with the Dodgers for less than a week, but it looks like he’s already taking on a leadership role with the team. According to Arash Markazi of ESPNLA, Victorino had already been in the team’s clubhouse for over an hour on Sunday prior to the team’s game at 4:10pm ET when a few of his teammates arrived. Victorino reportedly pointed to an imaginary watch...

Which Dodger player placed gum on Ted Lilly's hat? (Video)

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ted Lilly was a victim of the old gum-on-the-hat prank during Monday night's game at Dodger Stadium against the Colorado Rockies. Lilly was caught on the camera during the bottom of the second inning and clearly had no idea what was on his head. Someone managed to blow a bubble with the gum and keep in intact while placing it on Lilly's hat...

Shane Victorino loses fly ball in lights, still makes catch (Video)

Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Shane Victorino lost a fly ball in the lights, but still made the catch during the ninth inning of Saturday night's game at Dodger Stadium against the Chicago Cubs. Your browser does not support iframes. Victorino got a great jump on the fly ball by Cubs batter Anthony Rizzo, and got himself in perfect position to make the catch while turning...

Los Angeles Dodgers: How the West will be won (or lost)

Something unusual happened in Los Angeles this weekend. Clayton Kershaw has been very sharp in his last two starts. Okay, so what could be unusual in the city that put the “un” in usual?  How about the Dodgers sweeping the Chicago Cubs this past weekend?   Yes, the Cubs.  You know; the team that may have put the “ick” in pathetic.  The Dodgers last swept the Cubs at...

After taking the first two games of their series with the Chicago Cubsincluding Saturday's 3-2 winthe Dodgers will send their newest acquisition--31-year old Joe Blanton--to the mound Sunday afternoon, hoping he can do for them what he did when he was dealt from Oakland to Philadelphia: Help turn them into winners. LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Adam Ottavino gave up one hit in three innings of relief, a single that was the result of a reversed call, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 Monday night. Rocky Mountain High

Admit it, you were worried after that Dodgers series. The Dodgers are way too close, and there’s a dash of fear…or more…that the offense was just the result of being in Coors and facing the Rockies’ pitchers.  But damn, that sort of offense does feel a bit good. Not that I’m turning my back on AT&T Park…or thinking about bringing in the fences…or doing anything...
