Larry Bigbie was born in Hobart, Indiana which is actually pronounced Hobert believe it or not.  Bigbie, a big 6-4 outfielder, was drafted 21st overall in the 1999 MLB Draft. He somehow only spent 2 years in the minors before being called up and I have no idea why (Wait yes I do, the Orioles aren’t good/Steroids). After showing no power and hitting under .300 in the minors, he was called up in June 2001.

At age 23, in 47 games he hit 2 dingers, drove in 11, and batted .229 with a .318 OBS. The next season was not good for Bigbie, so he was sent down to prove himself worthy of  the show, and luckily for fame of Hobart, he tore up AAA.  In 2003 Bigbie found his grove, in 287 AB’s, Bigbie drastically improved his BA to .303 his OBP to .355 (both career highs), and hit 9 homeruns. The future looked bright for young Bigbie.

He’d follow that year with another solid season in 2004. Bigbie hit a career high 15 bombs, drove in 68 dudes, and hit a consistent .280. After two productive seasons followed by an “okay” season, Bigbie was traded in 2005 to the Rockies for MLB Network’s Eric Byrnes. Larry’s stats were supposed to transfer over to Coors, but they didn’t. He only played in 23 games for the Rockies until he was traded with Aaron Miles to the Cardinals for Ray King. L-Big only  batted .240 in STL, and at the end of the year became a free agent. He signed with the Dodgers, but never made it to the show. So he then signed with the Braves, and same story there.

In 2007 Larry Bigbie was found on the Mitchell Report for using HGH and other performing enhancement drugs. Of course he was introduced to these roids by David Segui, that’s like smoking weed with Wiz Khalifa. I find it pretty ironic that he took HGH considering he really didn’t have too much power, maybe he was using it wrong?

Bigbie still played baseball but not in the majors; he went to Japan and played for Yokohama Bay Stars in 2008. Then in 2010, Bigbie made a comeback in the Golden Baseball League for the Edmonton Capitals, and he completely killed it as a DH.

What a great feel-good story, expect the 30/30 on Larry Bigbie to be filmed any time now.
