Opening day starter Matt Harrison won't pitch again this season for the Texas Rangers. Harrison made only two starts at the beginning of the season before two operations on a herniated disk in his lower back. He had been pitching in rehab games before feeling a twinge in his elbow and numbness in his hand last week. General manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday that Harrison met with the team doctor and the surgery who did the operations. They determined that Harrison's back wasn't strong enough, and that he was making adjustments in his delivery that led to his symptoms. While there's nothing structurally wrong with the elbow, Harrison needs additional rest and rehab. Daniels says Harrison is expected to be fully recovered in time for spring training.

Rangers unsure how Cruz will fit in postseason plans

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers haven't made a decision about whether or not suspended slugger would play for the club if it made the postseason. Texas general manager Jon Daniels said the club has to make the playoffs first, and then it will decide on what that means for Cruz. "Our goal right now, as it always is, is to keep all our options open," Daniels said...

Adrian Beltre Runs Into Left Field in Attempt to Avoid Tag in Rundown (Video)

Adrian Beltre doesn’t take himself too seriously (at least as long as you don’t touch his head) no matter where he is, and that includes on the ballfield. He showed that again Sunday afternoon in Houston. The Texas Rangers third baseman was in the middle of another light-hearted moment Sunday, this one stemming from a poor baserunning decision. After Alex Rios hit a ball to third...

Martin's rifle arm helps Rangers in comeback win

ARLINGTON, Texas News of Leonys Martin's big arm apparently hasn't reached Milwaukee. The Rangers center fielder gunned down two Brewers trying to take third base Wednesday night. He's now tied for the American League lead with 10 outfield assists, four of them against Milwaukee. "I don't know why guys still run on him," starting pitcher Matt Garza said...

Did Umpire Blow Call In Yu Darvish Perfect Game Bid?(Video)

Another example of just what a ‘joy’ the element of human error is. Rangers ace Yu Darvish was making a bid for history in Monday’s game versus the Astros. In the bottom of the 6th, looking for his 12th strikeout of the game against Jonathan Villar with two outs, Darvish threw a low breaking ball, which he thought was good enough to be strike 3. Both Darvish and catch AJ...

Yu Darvish Loses Perfect Game and A.J. Pierzynski Loses His Cool (sort of)

If there is one thing that baseball fans have learned this season it is this--Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish is an absolute beast. Darvish was so on fire that he had another shot at a perfect game going (he had one to start the season against the Astros), but than lost it. With perfect games being kind of rare it comes as no surprise that it didn't happen. What was surprising...

That Adrian Beltre! He So Crazy!

All season long we have seen evidence of Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre and shortstop Elvis Andrus having a little fun with each other during the games. During Sunday's game with the Houston Astros Beltre decided to have a little fun all by himself.  After gettting caught between second and third with nowhere to go he decided to head to one place he knew he was...

Rangers release Manny Ramirez from minor-league deal

Veteran slugger Manny Ramirez won't be playing for the Rangers this season after they released him from his Triple A contract so that he can pursue other opportunities. Ramirez did not ask for the release. Ramirez41 his three homers in his eight games with Round Rock but hasn't homered since. He finished with a .259 average and 13 RBIs in 30 games. "Based on our evaluation...

Adrian Beltre tries escaping rundown by running into left field (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre was involved in a hilarious moment on the basepaths during Sunday's game when he tried to escape a rundown by running towards left field. Beltre doubled to lead off the top of the ninth inning, but was caught in no-man's land when he tried to advance on a grounder to third by Alex Rios. The Astros...

Adrian Beltre’s “Fluke” 2004 Happens Again

When Adrian Beltre put up one of the best seasons in the history of baseball in 2004, it was labeled many things: an historic fluke, evidence of steroid usage, and/or the greatest example in history of a player trying to cash in on a big contract in his walk year. He went from hitting 23 […]

Brewers seek to cool off red-hot Rangers

The AL West-leading Texas Rangers have earned the majority of their season-high eight straight wins against sub-.500 teams. That string of lackluster opponents isn't ending any time soon. The Milwaukee Brewers, though, have played relatively well in the past week and should get Aramis Ramirez back in the lineup as they try to snap the Rangers' run Tuesday night in Arlington...

Rangers' Darvish one-hits Astros

Yu Darvish was nearly perfect against the Astros once again, taking a no-hit bid into the eighth inning and striking out a career-high 15 to lead the Texas Rangers over Houston 2-1 Monday for their eighth straight win.

Darvish, Nathan combine for one-hitter in Rangers’ 2-1 victory over Astros

Yu Darvish saw Marwin Gonzalez spoil his perfect game bid after retiring the first 26 batters on April 2. He didn’t get that close to perfection again against the Astros on Monday afternoon but was five outs away from throwing the Rangers’ sixth no-hitter in club history. This time though it was Carlos Corporan who broke up the no-hit bid with a solo homer in the eighth inning...

Darvish fans career-top 15 in no-hit try vs Astros

HOUSTON (AP) -- Yu Darvish was nearly perfect against the Astros once again, taking a no-hit bid into the eighth inning and striking out a career-high 15 to lead the Texas Rangers over Houston 2-1 Monday for their eighth straight win. Darvish dominated the Astros until Carlos Corporan lined a home run into the right-field seats with one out in the eighth for Houston's only hit...

Rangers roll past Astros

While my life has been rolling along, so has the Rangers’ winning streak.  I was delighted to check scores during my busy weekend and see my boys swept their in-state rivals, the Astros.  Oh, and they picked up another outfielder too. Alex Rios joined the team Friday as they headed to Houston.  He got to watch the offense put on a little show, taking a 9-5 victory in the opener...
