Later today, MLB will be announcing its suspensions for those players involved in using PED’s from the Biogenesis lab in Miami and Texas Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz, as expected, will be on that list according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. How Texas, currently 0.5 games back of the wild card, responds to replacing Cruz’s production of .269/.330/.511 with 27 home runs and 76 RBI’s remains anyone’s guess. I find it rather shocking that Rangers GM Jon Daniels did not add an impact bat at the trade deadline to take Cruz’s place in the lineup. He represents Texas’ biggest power threat and is their most productive hitter this year. They must have known beforehand that Cruz was going to be suspended, so Daniels’ inaction remains mystifying. Of course, they could try to add another bat during August’s waiver period. MLB.com’s T.R.
