Los Angeles Dodgers righthander Jon Garland is not expected back this season, according to a published reported.
ESPNLosAngeles.com, citing a course, said Garland will not return from the 15-day disabled list even he does not need season-ending shoulder surgery.
The 31-year-old Garland went on the DL early last month with an ailing right shoulder. He was scheduled to get a second opinion from noted orthopedist Dr. Lewis Yocum over the weekend.
Signed to a one-year, $5-million contract in the offseason, Garland is 1-5 with a 4.33 ERA in nine starts this season. He has not won since April 20.
