Tim Lincecum, Spring Training The San Francisco Giants offered Tim Lincecum a 4-year deal, but Lincecum wants a 8-year deal. He’s also okay with just signing a 1 or 2-year deal, according to Jon Heyman (via twitter).   Heyman also says (via twitter) the Giants have since talked to Lincecum’s agent, but still not much progress. They still have the big gab between the 8-years Timmy wants and the 4-years the Giants offered. They may just do a 1 or 2-year deal.   Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports says (via twitter) the Giants are not comfortable (yet) with offering 3-year contracts. Michael Cuddyer would require a 3-year deal, and the Twins have offered Cuddyer that for $25 million.   Danny Knobler of CBS Sports says (via twitter) the Giants are trying to move Jeff Keppinger, Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez. They’re planning on keeping Jeremy Affeldt. GM Brian Sabean knows he doesn’t have a blank check this offseason, so he’s kicking the tires on any possible t...

How Does Pagan Equal Torres AND Ramirez?

Angel Pagan seems to be equal to Andres Torres. Torres has more power and had a higher value than Pagan in 2011 with a better fielding year. Pagan can steal some bases and was worth more than Torres in 2010 but not 2011. Pagan is also three years younger than Torres. With all those thoughts in mind, a straight up swap doesn't seem absurd and a case can be made for it. But then...

San Francisco Giants general manager Brian Sabean not optimistic about team's pursuit of free agents

'We've made a few bids ... ' Sabean said at the winter meetings. 'That's not going too well. The bidding in general is not going very well.'

Torres makes Endy a less-likely acquisition

Andy Martino of the Daily News and Adam Rubin of ESPN believe it is now less likely the Mets sign free-agent OF Endy Chavez, since the team just acquired Andres Torres from the Giants. The Mets reportedly met with the agents for Chavez, Cesar Izturis, and Ronny Cedeno earlier this week in Dallas. In 83 games for the Rangers in 2011, Chavez hit .301 with a .323 on base percentage...

Giants Deal Torres, Ramirez for Pagan

Early in the week, rumors started heating up that the Giants were trying to move Jeff Keppinger, Andres Torres and reliever Ramon Ramirez. On Tuesday night, they got two-thirds of the way to making that a reality, as San Francisco dealt Ramirez and Torres to the Mets for outfielder Angel Pagan. Pagan is younger than Torres, and likely has more offensive upside, though both players...

Limited by payroll, Giants still improved

The Giants knew that they weren't going to acquire a "household name," as general manager Brian Sabean said before the Winter Meetings, but even with payroll nearing its limit, Sabean thinks the club has improved.

Giants don't plan to add more players

General manager Brian Sabean said Wednesday that with guaranteed and projected salaries factored in, the Giants have hit their $130 million player payroll limit.

SF Giants' offensive solutions are likely in house

The more general manager Brian Sabean and manager Bruce Bochy addressed roster projections Monday, the more it appeared the Giants ' makeup in 2012 will be a lot like 2011 - but with Aubrey Huff in left field.. "Yes, I...

Buster to 1st, Pablo Might Catch in 2012

Even if the Giants are done signing offensive players -- and judging by rumors that seems unlikely -- the batting lineup could look completely different in different parts of 2012. That's because, according to Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy in Dallas at MLB's Winter Meetings, we could see plenty of Buster Posey at first base ... and some Pablo Sandoval behind the plate. No...
