This looked to be a fairly taut pitcher's duel early on, with the game hanging on the kinds of plays that make the difference in such contests, Jair Jurrgen's 1-3 inning-ending, lineout double play in the top of the second being the most visible; but then you had predictable non-events like Chad Billingsley striking out with the bags juiced to end the fourth, or the Braves twice stranding a man on second in the first and third. The Dodgers finally broke through in the fifth, when with two out and two on, Matt Kemp reached out and tagged a fastball that wasn't as high as Brian McCann called for, and launched it out of the deepest part of the yard. That was as much offense as the Dodgers needed tonight, and even though Billingsley got yanked after hyperextending his knee in a very awkward pitch, perhaps itself the consequence of a leg cramp he experienced during his at-bat against Matt Diaz.
