Found March 31, 2012 on Nationals Enquirer:
A commercial for Syracuse Chiefs Opening Day 2012 features a pair of Washington Nationals phenoms (video below), but obviously, the Chiefs are going to promote the heck out of the one who will be there this year (well, hopefully only one of 'em will be there this year).  Even if it is for just a few short weeks, the Chiefs will be selling Bryce Harper early and often. Better milk it while you can, because obviously "Jason Michaels and the 2012 Chiefs" doesn't have the same ring to it! Meanwhile, we're still waiting for our first glimpse of a "Harpercuse" shirt. Danny Espinosa and strikeouts...

Above: what it looked like on TV when Danny Espinosa struck out looking in the 5th inning of Friday night's Nats-Marlins game; 0-3 night for Danny through 5, with 3 Ks. That's 23 strikeouts in 63 spring training ABs. That's a lot of strikeouts. That's positively Adam Dunn-esque. (Screengrab via TV/MASN.) Befriend the Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Follow us on...

All systems go for Gio

At his introductory press conference at Nationals Park on January 25, Gio Gonzalez addressed his biggest concern about making the jump to the NL: "Swinging the bat will be my biggest adjustment." And then he got a hit on Sunday, in his final start of the spring. Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post described the moment in all its Little League glory: When...

The Nationals are finally poised to compete

In the entire history of the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals, they’ve made just one playoff appearance, which happened so long ago that Mark McGwire probably doesn’t even remember being drafted by the organization that year. (1981 for those scoring at home.) Since then, the Expos/Nationals have been a study in failure. Sure, there were those few years in the early 90s when...

Steve Lombardozzi just keeps on hitting...

(Lombo. Screengrab via MLB.com) Busy, busy, day for the Nats on Thursday: a strong start from Edwin Jackson, Adam LaRoche hit AND ran, and more roster moves than you can shake a stick at. And then there's Steve Lombardozzi: three more hits yesterday in the Nats split squad win against the Tigers, starting at 2B on this day. Lombo has 19 hits on the spring, hitting a healthy...

Blanco Signed, Moyer #2, Me Fast?

Blanco Signed:The Phillies infield has more injuries than a MASH unit during the Korean War. Last week Joe Thurston was signed for depth and now Andres Blanco has been added as well. The 27 year old switch hitter is best suited for SS and 2nd base, but he's manned 3rd and some outfield too. In 6 seasons with the Cubs, Royals, and Rangers he's hit .255/.634 in 235 games. He...

Nationals 3, Marlins 2

Giancarlo Stanton and Logan Morrison returned to the lineup for the Florida Marlins, who lost to the Washington Nationals 3-2 Friday night. Stanton, who had not played since March 11 because of wrist and knee injuries, went 0 for 2 with a walk. Morrison was out with troublesome knee since March 13. He had an RBI single in three at-bats.
