"I've enjoyed every minute of it," the 24-year-old said by phone this week. "It's been a bit of a whirlwind." Missouri baseball coach Tim Jamieson had no doubt Tepesch could get here. The hard part was convincing the kid from Blue Springs High School to see it, too. Tepesch was a 6-foot-4, right-handed pitcher who wanted to get better. But he struggl...

So close: Yu Darvish’s perfect game broken up on final out

Talk about a let down. The 2013 MLB season just started and we almost had our first perfect game. If only Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Dravish could’ve put away career .234 hitter Marwin Gonzalez. On 110 pitches, Darvish retired the first 26 batters that the Houston Astros sent to the plate, but he was no match for the lethal Gonzalez. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Gonzalez...

Jurickson Profar for Oscar Taveras: A Thought Exercise

The Texas Rangers have two good middle infielders, so the best prospect in baseball is starting the season in Triple-A. The St. Louis Cardinals have three good outfielders, so the second best prospect in baseball is starting the season in Triple-A. The Cardinals one glaring weakness is at shortstop. The Rangers spent all winter trying to trade for a young power hitting outfielder...
