The Los Angeles Dodgers began last week with a five-game lead in the NL West, and they'll go into this week with a five-game lead, after splitting six interleague home games with the Angels and White Sox, treading water against the MLB betting odds in the process.

LA will try to maintain that advantage and help out its financial backers when it hits the road this week for three games in Oakland starting Tuesday and three with the Angels in Anaheim this weekend.

The Dodgers get Monday off after rallying to beat the ChiSox Sunday 2-1. LA starter Chris Capuano was wonderful, allowing one run on six hits through eight innings and whiffing a dozen, but the Dodgers had come up completely empty against Sox starter Jose Quintana and trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the ninth.

But LA scratched out the tying run in the ninth, then won it on a Dee Gordon base hit in the bottom of the tenth.

Earlier last week the Dodgers scored a total of eight runs in dropping two of three games to the Angels. Combined with last year's Battle of Los Angeles series the Blue Crew has lost six of its last nine games vs. the Halos.

LA was actually dogged in two of those games against the Angels. So on the week it lost about a quarter of an MLB betting unit. For the season only Baltimore, at plus $1,950, tops the Dodgers, at plus $1,515, on the MLB money chart.

The Dodgers are also 19-12 without Matt Kemp this season. As of early this week, while Kemp is doing some baseball work rehabbing his hamstring, we have no word on when he'll return.

LA will throw Aaron Harang at Oakland Tuesday, Nathan Eovaldi Wednesday and Clayton Kershaw Thursday, while the A's will counter with Brandon McCarthy, Tom Milone and Jarrod Parker.

The rotation then sets up for Chad Billingsley to start the opener of the series against the Angles Friday night, with Capuano going Saturday and Harang on Sunday.

The Dodgers are 10-4 in Kershaw's and Capuano's starts this year, 8-5 when Harang goes and 8-6 when Billingsley starts. And while they're 0-4 in Eovaldi's outings, they've lost those games by scores of 2-1, 3-2, 1-0 and 2-1.
