Overview
Selected in the 25th round of the 2007 draft, expectations on Sexton weren't exactly high. Those expectations hit rock bottom in his full season debut in 2008, as he posted a 6.04 ERA in high-A as a starter. Fortunately, Sexton has shown some promise this year by posting a great season in the same league, but he has middling stuff, so his statistics will have to speak for him if he wants to move quickly.
Stuff
His fastball sits 86-90 mph, and it will occasionally touch 91. The movement is average, but he does have some pop behind it. Sexton's favorite pitches are his curve and slider, both of which show above average promise. He has a fourth pitch in the change, but it's far more unrefined.For me, the concerning thing about Sexton is that he has a collection of solid pitches, but not one of them even projects to be a plus offering. This leads me to believe that he could struggle at higher levels unless his stuff gets refined in a hurr...
