Dayan Viciedo had three hits and drove in two runs, Jose Quintana pitched six effective innings and the Chicago White Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 4-3 Tuesday night. Quintana (8-6) won for the first time since he last faced the Twins, on Aug. 16. He allowed one run while scattering eight hits, striking out five and walking two. During his winless drought, Quintana was 0-2 in five starts. He had a 3.03 ERA over that stretch, while being backed by five total runs - two in the past four games. After a 2-15 stretch, the White Sox won the first two games of the series against the Twins for their first series victory since Aug. 27-29 against the Astros. They have won five straight against the Twins. White Sox closer Addison Reed pitched a scoreless ninth for his 38th save in 44 opportunities, benefiting from Alejandro De Aza's leaping catch of Trevor Plouffe's flyball against the center-field wall for the second out. Brian Dozier had three hits and scored two runs for the Twin...

ChiSox announcer Hawk Harrelson's calls get techno remix

I'm not even sure what to say about this. Chicago White Sox broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson is a one of a kind kind of announcer...and that's probably why he's so polarizing.  Fans of the Southsiders love the guy and his unabashed homerism.  Others, well, others have gone so far to try and "Heave the Hawk". Well, regardless how you feel, nothing...

Quintana picks up victory in 4-3 White Sox win over Twins

Jose Quintana won’t tie the all-time mark for no decisions this season. He earned the victory on Tuesday night as the White Sox defeated the Minnesota Twins 4-3 at U.S. Cellular Field. Quintana has already established an American League record with 17 no decisions and leads the majors. But his chance to tie Bert Blyleven’s all-time mark of 20 established in 1979 was wiped out...

Johnson offers White Sox 'a sample' in first career victory

Erik Johnson’s first two outings didn’t give White Sox manager Robin Ventura a chance to properly evaluate the young right-hander. A combination of shoddy defense high pitch counts and zero offense limited Johnson’s chances of pitching competitively. But White Sox catcher Bryan Anderson knows all about the team’s top pitching prospect after he caught him a half-dozen times...

Ventura says Konerko will talk about future when he’s ready

The subject came up again and Paul Konerko fouled it off the same way he has so many two-strike sliders on the outside corner during the course of his career. Next pitch please. And next question. This time the question wasn’t about whether this season will be his last but about when he might decide. Same topic still off-limits. Konerko’s contract is up after the season his...

Pelfrey trying to avoid losing three straight starts

Impressive offensive production, particularly from Alexei Ramirez, has spurred the Chicago White Sox's four-game winning streak over the Minnesota Twins. Jose Quintana would surely appreciate some help from the bats. Ramirez and the White Sox look to give Quintana some needed support as he tries to win Tuesday night for the first time since he last faced the Twins a month ago...

John Danks settles in after rough start for Wsox

In a lost season, John Danks found something encouraging. Danks allowed four runs in the first two innings of the Chicago White Sox's 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. From his perspective, though, the next five innings were more important. ''From the third inning on, that's what I hope to be from this moment on - a groundball machine that's throwing...

White Sox score 7 in 1st, coast to win over Twins

Erik Johnson pitched six scoreless innings to earn his first major league victory, and the Chicago White Sox scored seven runs in the first and coasted to a 12-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday night. The White Sox, who had lost six straight and 15 of 17, broke out of their offensive funk against Liam Hendriks and the Twins. Chicago scored a season high in runs and posted...

Twins look to avoid three-game sweep in Chicago

The Chicago White Sox have won five straight over the Minnesota Twins and will try to complete a three-game home sweep as a pair of struggling left-handed starters match up. Minnesota's Scott Diamond is 2-0 this year against the White Sox, who will counter with John Danks on Wednesday in Chicago. The Twins (64-86) took 10 of the first 13 meetings between the AL Central's...

Erik Johnson Dazzles, Picks up First Win

There's nothing like a win on dog day. Well a win that mattered would've been nice. Either way, here's a look into the rare victory on the south side. In his first two major league starts, Erik Johnson got no help. No, he didn't look great, but as we have said, sometimes poor play behind you can mess you up in the head and help you fall into a poor outing. But...

Dog dyed to look like Chicago White Sox mascot

Lookin' like Southpaw or Oscar the Grouch?

Twins take early lead, hold on to beat White Sox

The Twins jumped on White Sox starter John Danks early and pulled out a 4-3 win at U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday. Twins lefthander Diamond 6-11 faltered some late but can still feel good about his outing as he snapped a five-game losing streak that went back to June 20. Over 61/3 innings Diamond gave up three runs on five hits and two walks - enough for a quality start. He entered...
