Memories Of Kevin Malone:
Michael Schwartz and Diamond Leung have all the details."After the game, it was announced the Dodgers would purchase the contract of former first-round draft pick Scott Elbert to make his major league debut. Clayton Kershaw was optioned to Class AAA Las Vegas, but it was more of a procedural move, and he is expected to make his next start."
"After waiting a day to reconsider their options, the Dodgers, as expected, designated right-hander Tanyon Sturtze for assignment, allowing them to activate reliever Cory Wade from the disabled list."Thank god! Finally, here's some exciting news to take my mind off this failboat of a Dodgers team.
I'm always in a better mood when the Dodgers actually dump dead weight (Sturtze) from their roster, and call up a guy (Elbert) who could actually help in the future. It's an interesting move because Elbert is still probably seen within the organization as a future starter, but I guess they want him to get a taste of the big leagues in a lesser role first. He's been good all year in the minors, but he does still have health questions, and seems to need a lot of rest between appearances.
Wade will end up being a huge boost to a tired and depleted bullpen. Also, don't worry about Kershaw being sent down, it doesn't mean much of anything. He's going to be back up in time for his next major league start when the rosters expand. He was only the choice to go down because he has options left and wouldn't pitch again until September anyway.
