San Francisco Giants LHP Madison Bumgarner was drafted in the 2007 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the first year that the draft was televised live on TV. He was drafted 10th in the first round by the San Francisco Giants. Bumgarner was drafted out of South Caldwell High School in North Carolina. He pitched in the minors from 2008-2010. His record in the minors was 34-6 and with a 2.00 ERA, 315 strikeouts and an 1.06 WHIP (Walks plus hits per inning pitched). His debut in the majors was 9-8-2009, against the  San Diego Padres. He went 5.1/3 innings, allowed 2 earned runs, 5 hits, and he had 4 strikeouts. He went back into the minors and in 201o he was back in the majors again. In 2010, he went 7-6, with a 3.00 ERA, 86 strikeouts, and an 1.31 WHIP. In 2010, the Giants won their division, the NL West and they went on to win the NL Pennant also. Bumgarner was 21 years old.
