Found April 30, 2012 on We Should Be GM's:
The crowd cheers "Freddy!  Freddy! Freddy!".  Blogs chart the awesomeness of his defense and improvement at the plate since his 0-12 start.   Me, I roll my eyes and wonder what the hell the big deal is.Batting Average - .194 On Base % - .229 Slugging % - .299 OPS - .527 No amount of defensive wizardry can make up for that. That's not good. That's not okay. That's not mediocre. That's not slightly below average. That's not bad. That's really f'n bad. We here at WSBGMs are fond of Todd Zolecki and appreciate the love he's shown us over the years, but his excuses and defense of Freddy Galvis are inexcusable. Maybe he's walking the company line, much like organization brown-noser Chris Wheeler, or maybe he just truly believes Galvis can hit. I, on the other hand, look at his poor minor league offensive numbers and watch him at the plate against MLB pitchers that make him look weak and silly and am pretty damn confident when I make a proclama...

David Herndon to 15-Day DL

Will Herndon's absence create an opportunity for Diekman or Sanches? Photo (AP)According to Todd Zolecki, David Herndon is headed to the 15-day DL with right elbow inflammation. Herndon has pitched to a career high 4.70 ERA but is also posting a career high in K/9 IP and low in BB/9 IP. Phillies' Lee won't come off DL Friday

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee is eligible to come off the disabled list on Friday, but he will not be activated then because his strained left oblique has not healed sufficiently. The Phillies want Lee to throw two bullpen sessions before he returns to the starting rotation, and his first bullpen session has not been scheduled. "It's better," Lee told...

Philadelphia Phillies storyline: unconventional smarts

Roy Halladay and the aces of the Philadelphia Phillies are living up to their billing, but not all other hyped staffs are. The experts say pitching continues to be the dominant force, but are they relying on easy numbers? Is it worth watching a national baseball broadcast to hear surface-oriented information? Facts are like an iceberg: Most of it is below the visible line. TAL'...

Phillies Hit The Road on a Positive Note

In the finale of a 4-game series with the Cubs, the Phillies got off to a hot start with 4 runs in the first inning. Having already lost 2 games in this series, it was imperative for this team to get going quickly. But after those 4 runs, the offense went to sleep again. Vance Worley pitched 7 strong innings while the offense napped. He allowed only 1 run on 5 hits and 2 walks. The...
