Tampa Bay Rays 6 — New York Yankees 7 [10 Innings]
Ronnier Mustelier walks off in today’s 7-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in 10 innings.
Adam Warren started today’s game and was hurt by an error by Kevin Youkilis. On a groundball by Jose Molina, Youkilis had a hard time moving it from glove to hand and gave the Rays an opportunity to score. Vidal Nuno would take over in the 4th inning to get through it. Francisco Cervelli helped Warren and Nuno in the 4th inning by catching two runners attempting to steal second base. Cody Eppley, Mariano Rivera, Joba Chamberlain, and Boone Logan all provided a scoreless inning of work. David Aardsma was given the task of the 9th inning with a lead. With a runner on second and two outs, Aardsma gave up a game-tying double that extended the game one more inning.
The Yankees brought the pop in their bat to today’s game. Kevin Youkilis got the offense going with a no doubt two-run home run in the 1st inning. Speed is going to be a key part of the game and Brett Gardner scored after stealing second and Eduardo Nunez’s triple brought him home. The home run swing reappeared when Travis Hafner went deep into right field for a solo home run, his second this spring. Youkilis turned the tide of a 5-4 deficit into a 6-5 lead with another two-run home run, his second of the day and his fifth home run of the spring. One more home run would be needed to win this game and Ronnier Mustelier would provide it in the 10th inning. On a 3-2 pitch, Mustelier hit a high-arching home run with just enough to clear the wall and send Yankees fans home happy.

It doesn’t take much to impress the New York Yankees these days, as Chien-Ming Wang just proved inking a one-year minor league deal with the team.
It took Wang all of 12 scoreless innings in the WBC for the Yankees to abolish his past.
Wang has been injured and ineffective for years, as his last decent outing in the majors was...
Derek Jeter is no longer answering reporters’ intrusive questions regarding his foot. (Generally, those questions must go along these lines: “How are you?” “How do you feel?” “What’s up?”) He’s tired of telling reporters his foot doesn’t hurt. The somebiches don’t listen. The Yankees say Jeter might miss opening day, but he hasn’t ruled it out. The team expects...
I haven't squawked much lately because I don't really want to be a Swanny one-note, writing nothing but gloom and doom about the state of the Yankees. Especially when it comes to the madness of Brian Cashman. He is a terrible general manager, but our lousy front office seems to be fine with no matter what he does. And the media gives Cashman a pass, too -- more than they...
The New York Yankees are dealing with multiple injuries as
the regular season approaches – including Curtis Granderson, Alex Rodriguez and
Mark Teixeira. You can add two more names to that list, as Clay Rapada and Phil
Hughes are likely to begin the year on the disabled list.

A string of bad luck has struck the New York Yankees and now Derek Jeter may start 2013 on the disabled list.
Worried, upset, concerned, just a few words that describe Yankees fans to start the season.
While the progress of Yankee captain Derek Jeter, returning from a broken left ankle suffered in Game One of last October’s American League Championship Series, had been a mostly...

Is Cano or Cespedes going to have the better year?
Robinson Cano has been one of the best hitters in baseball over past several years. His three year averages: .311/.370/.539, 30 HR, 107 RBI, 104 runs, and 5 sB. The 30/100/100 mark is a milestone and when someone averages that over three years in an increasingly pitching dominated era, it’s incredible. He has finished 3rd...
Do you remember the last time you saw pitcher Chien-Ming Wang wear the New York Yankees pinstripes?

It was on July 4, 2009 and Wang went five innings, gave up two runs, struck out three, walked three and hit a batter before being removed from the game. He was posted his lowest ERA of the 2009 season, a 10.04.
Well, the Yankees...
From LoHud:“It was an easy decision for me (to sign back with the Yankees) because I never wanted to leave,” Wang said. “… It’s like back in the day. This was my first team, this is where I started. I feel great.”
Wang said there were “four or five” teams interested in him, all looking into minor league deals.....
Although he knows he’s heading to Triple-A...
During his early years with the Atlanta Braves, Andruw Jones' path to immortality seemed to be paved with gold. Since then...it's barely been pyrite.
And I'm not even talking about his dismal stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Most recently, after spending time with four teams over five years...dude agreed to a one-year $3.5 million contract with the Japan...
I’ve already speculated that, when Brian Cashman broke his ankle skydiving March 4, that maybe he also unknowingly hit his head, because some of his moves and intentions this spring have been, well, questionable, if not downright nuts.
After the Yankees general manager acquired Angels outfielder Vernon Wells on Monday, I’m almost sure Cashman must’ve hit his head.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Vernon Wells might become the latest addition to the New York Yankees' injury-depleted lineup.
As the Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 in 10 innings Sunday behind a pair of Kevin Youkilis home runs, New York was negotiating with the Los Angeles Angels to acquire the outfielder.
A person familiar with the negotiations, speaking on condition of anonymity...
Desperate times calls for desperate measures, and make no mistakes about it, this is a move of desperation by the New York Yankees.
Earlier, we reported that Yankees shortstop and captain Derek Jeter, will almost certainly miss the beginning of the season because he has yet to fully recover from a broken ankle he suffered in the postseason late last year.
The Bronx Bombers are...
