Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig has made many fans since breaking into the big leagues over a month ago. In fact, the Cuban sensation has done nothing but good things in his brief major league career. Well, until Monday.According to Dan Bickley of USA TODAY, Puig completely disrespected former Arizona Diamondbacks star Luis Gonzalez before Monday's game at Chase Field. During batting practice, Gonzalez allegedly approached Puig, introduced himself, and began telling him how his family also had roots in Cuba, too. However, Puig reportedly didn't even look up or acknowledge Gonzalez. And as Bickley points out, Gonzalez was speaking in Spanish, so it wasn't like Puig didn't understand what he was saying.Gonzalez confirmed the one-sided conversation, but didn't comment any further. The incident didn't sit well with Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire, who witnessed the awkward meeting, and immediately jumped on Puig pretty good. McGwire reminded Puig that the man he was ignoring once laced a game-winning hit off future Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera to win a World Series, and that Gonzalez' number also hangs inside Arizona's stadium.Being a competitor is one thing, but totally dissing one of the great players who came before you is quite another. Let's hope for Puig's sake that this trend doesn't continue and this whole ordeal was just an isolated incident.
