Zack Greinke returned to form for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night to throw eight strong innings in a 6-1 victory over the San Diego Padres. In his last six starts Greinke had been 1-2 with a 5.57 ERA. Once again there was a hype surrounding the Greinke-Carlos Quentin incident as the two would face each other again. Greinke would get the better of Quentin who was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts on the day. In his eight innings of work Greinke didn’t allow more than one baserunner to reach in an inning until the eighth when he would give up a pair of doubles to give the Padres their only run. Greinke would finish allowing only four hits and walking one while striking out eight. The Dodgers were without a hit through five innings against Padres starter Edinson Volquez even though they were up 1-0. Volquez walked the bases loaded in the fifth and a run came across on a Skip Schumaker groundout. The Dodgers would end up with their season high in walks with eight, seven of which were issued by Volquez. Adrian Gonzalez kicked off the fun in the sixth inning with his ninth homer on the season to center. The Padres defense would not help Volquez with two errors in the inning but Volquez allowed three hits and two walks to combine for three more runs to put the Dodgers on top 5-0. Hanley Ramirez has been crushing the ball lately going 10-for-18 (.556) in his last five games. His only hit Saturday only landed because it hit the top deck of the Western Metal Supply Co. building in the left field corner of Petco Park. The homer, just his third on the year, put the Dodgers up 6-0. These are the wins that the team has been in search of all season and has rarely found. The Dodgers will look to get a series split sending Chris Capuano (2-4, 4.62) on short rest to face Andrew Cashner (5-3, 3.56). WP: Zack Greinke (4-2) LP: Edinson Volquez (5-6)Tweet

Injury Roll Call: Kemp & SVS rehab, but Carl lags behind + Lilly improving

Matt Kemp has gone on a rehab assignment in Triple-A Albuquerque. The Dodgers got some good news as center fielder Matt Kemp will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, the team announced before their second game against the Padres at Petco Park on Friday. Kemp, who hadn’t been able to run at full speed yet during his recovery, ran the bases...

Making Moves: Capuano returns, as does Herrera + 2013 draft signings

Chris Capuano was activated from the disabled list, with Alex Castellanos heading to AAA. The Dodgers activated Chris Capuano from the disabled list in between games on Wednesday’s doubleheader with the Yankees, as the left-hander will start Game 2. To make room, the Dodgers optioned Alex Castellanos to Triple-A Albuquerque. Some stability at the back of the rotation would be nice...

Dodgers set to pay a penalty on draft signings, but won’t lose 2014 pick

The Dodgers are set to pay a financial penalty for going over their draft bonus pool limit, but won’t have to pay the severe penalty of losing a 2014 draft pick. There was legit reason to worry, as our own Dustin Nosler pointed out, because the team was in questionable territory with the bonuses of J.D. Underwood, Kyle Farmer, and Nick Keener to go. ===== Dodgers 2013 Draft Recap...

Los Angeles Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw Fall Once Again

Clayton Kershaw equaled his season high giving up four earned runs Friday night in the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 loss to the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers defense certainly didn’t lend a helping hand to Kershaw while committing two errors which now puts them in a dead heat with the Houston Astros for the most errors in Major League Baseball. The game began with Padres starter Clayton...

Los Angeles Dodgers Earn The Split Behind Back-To-Back Homers

Chris Capuano has had a great week of pitching with two stellar performances within five days. Sunday’s start came on three days rest as he didn’t allow a run or a hit for the second straight outing to help the Los Angeles Dodgers grab a 3-1 win against the San Diego Padres behind two big homers from Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez. For the second straight day Gonzalez and...

Dodgers 3, Padres 1

Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 3-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Gonzalez broke a 1-all tie with a drive to right field off closer Huston Street, and Ramirez hit the next pitch to right-center to help Los Angeles split the four-game series. It was the second home run in two days for...
