"He's (Askren) just a *****, he's not even a fighter." - Karl Amoussou Bellator Season 6 Welterweight Tournament victor Karl "Psycho" Amoussou talked a big game heading into his title fight with the "Funky" one. Like everyone before him, Amoussou would have you believe that he would be the one to stop Askren's takedowns, he would be the one to rip that coveted Bellator Welterweight strap away from him. Instead we would see arguably the greatest performance of Ben Askren's career to date.  The United States wrestling gold medalist has been known for putting fans to sleep in the past with his funky freestyle wrestling. With six straight decision victories heading into the Amoussou bout, not a whole lot of folks expected anything different from Askren last night in Thackerville. Sure,  in the end Amoussou may have looked more the part of a professional fighter than Askren, but that would only be due to the ground and pound of the champion, who left his challenger with a swollen, and eventually shut left eye. Askren left the cage without a mark on him, and that belt strapped around his waist. Amoussou would leave battered, frustrated and humbled. There is one bright side though for the French competitor. He can always move back up to Middleweight and enter another tournament next season to avoid another night under Askren.   Final Result: Ben Askren (11-0) defeats Karl Amoussou (16-5-2) via TKO (doctor stoppage) Round 3, 5:00
PLAYERS: Ben Askren
