According to UFC president Dana White, Randy Couture (Pictured) ain’t the greatest thing since sliced bread. As a matter of fact, White is glad the UFC Hall of Famer has joined forces with Spike TV and Bellator MMA, the UFC’s biggest rival, because that means he no longer has to deal with “Captain America” – wait up, don’t call Couture that.  “Randy Couture comes off as the greatest guy in the world – ‘Captain America,’” White said during Thursday’s media gathering. “He’s the furthest thing from it, and I’m happy that I don’t have to be in business with him anymore. Now I don’t ever have to be in business with him again.” Although Couture’s new partnership with Spike won’t be detailed until Tuesday’s press conference, it has been reported the former UFC champion has inked a multi-year deal to participate in multiple projects for the cable channel, including serving as coach on Bellator’s upcoming reality show. White bashing someone who has jumped off the UFC bandwagon isn’t breaking news, but this time it’s Randy Couture. This is the same revered man who the UFC requested to serve as a panelist for their watershed debut on FOX. Regardless, White claims the Couture behind closed doors is completely different than the one portrayed in public. White says Couture showed him his true colors in October 2009 when “The Natural” was upset with his contract and submitted his resignation. Couture was the heavyweight champion and had two fights remaining on his UFC agreement at the time. Although Couture ultimately returned to the Octagon, the damage was already done. “I would say when that whole lawsuit went down, when he lied about his numbers and lied about a lot of things, went into court and it didn’t work out for him, I say that’s when I really got to know him,” White expressed. “And when that whole thing went down, I was the guy that he was attacking. “It’s easy if you look at me and the way that I am in public. It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, this is the guy we can attack and make me look good.’ Of course everybody’s going to side on Randy.” When Couture’s deal with Spike was announced this earlier this week, a fan asked White what he thought of the UFC icon riding shotgun with his rival. White tweeted, “I love it.” And now we know why.
