UFC President Dana White might be fine with Gina Carano pursuing a career in Hollywood, but don’t expect for White to endorse Ronda Rousey (Pictured) if she decides to take her talents to the silver screen.
While Rousey only has one UFC fight under her championship belt, rumors have already been swirling that the bantamweight queen is destined for bigger things than the Octagon.
In fact, The Wrestling Observer reported the “Rowdy” one has already been offered a role in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” the sequel to box office sensation “The Hunger Games.”
White was none too please when Quinton “Rampage” Jackson put his mixed martial arts career on hold to film “The A-Team” in 2010, and he wasn’t exactly thrilled with the prospects of his golden girl halting her mainstream momentum, either.
White used the same ‘small window of opportunity’ line he pushed on Rampage in hopes of deterring Rousey, arguably the UFC’s biggest superstar with most crossover appeal.
“You know how I feel about the movie stuff,” White said on FUEL TV’s UFC Tonight. “When Rampage did the movie, it was his dream to be a part of ‘The A-Team.’ I don’t want to take away any opportunities from Ronda, but at the same time, her window of opportunity as a professional athlete is really narrow.
“She could make a zillion movies when she retires. Where she’s really going to get the money is here fighting. I don’t care if she’s the lead role in ‘The Hunger Games 2,’ she would not make anywhere near – I mean, not even in the universe – to the money she makes fighting.”
As far as Rousey’s day job goes, she bumped her record to a perfect 7-0 after disposing of Liz Carmouche at UFC 157. All of her victories have come via first round armbar fashion.
The 26-year-old has never acted in front of a camera.
