The ink had barely dried after signing his UFC contract, yet that didn’t stop former Bellator middleweight champ Hector Lombard (Pictured) from calling out his first opponent. The 34-year-old doesn’t have time to waste fighting bottom-feeders and has his sights set on the division’s top dog.

“I’ve wanted to fight in the UFC all my career,” Lombard expressed. “I want to be UFC middleweight champion and I want to fight Anderson Silva to do it.

“I have such respect for him as a fighter, it would be an honor and a dream come true to test my skills against his. I wouldn’t be in the UFC if I didn’t think I could win the UFC world title.”

Lombard has rattled off 24 consecutive wins and is considered to be one of the top 185-pounders not competing in the Octagon. He was last seen posting a TKO victory over Trevor Prangley at “Bellator 58” this past November in a 195-pound catchweight bout.

“Lightning” was perfect through all eight of his scraps under Bellator’s banner, with all but one of his wins coming via some form of knockout.

“I’m here in the UFC to prove I am the best in the world,” Lombard added. “I’m very proud of my heritage and I want to represent all Cubans around the world when I fight in the UFC, just like I did when I went to the Olympics in 2000.”

No word on when Lombard will make his big league debut. Silva, on the other hand, currently has bigger fish to fry. “The Spider” defends his crown against Chael Sonnen on July 7th at UFC 148.
