UFC officials have announced that a lightweight bout between John Alessio and Shane Roller has been signed for UFC 148. The bout is the tenth bout announced for July’s UFC 148.
UFC 148 takes place July 7 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by a middleweight title bout between current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and #1 contender Chael Sonnen.
Alessio is 34-15 in his professional mixed martial arts career. He is 3-2 in his past five bouts and is 0-4 in the UFC thus far. In his last bout he was defeated by Mark Bocek via decision at UFC 145.
Roller is 10-6 in his professional mixed martial arts career. He is currently on a three fight losing skid and is 1-3 in the UFC thus far. In his last bout he was defeated by Michael Johnson via decision at UFC on FOX 2.
The bout is more than a must win bout for either fighter. A loss in this bout could cost them their job with the UFC.
