Take two…the featherweight title fight matching champion Jose Aldo against Erik Koch is set for the main event of UFC 153 in Brazil. On Thursday, UFC officials announced the bout will headline the October 13th card in Rio de Janeiro.
Aldo and Koch were originally scheduled to battle at UFC 149 in Calgary this weekend. However, an injury to Aldo forced him out of his title defense against the rising Koch.
Aldo (21-1) is unbeaten in his last 14 fights dating back to 2005. He is coming off a amazing first round knockout win over Chad Mendes at UFC 142 in January. In addition, the win produced a memorable post-fight celebration by Aldo.
Koch (13-1) has won his last four bouts with three of the victories coming by stoppage. In his most recent bout at UFC Fight Night 25 Koch would earn a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Brookins.
UFC 153 will take place from the HSBC Arena. Also announced for the fight card is a lightweight fight between Cristiano Marcello and Reza Madadi.
