The Camel Clutch Blog:
It was a night filled with some bizarre scorecards and some bizarre in cage action, but the main event made up for all of that and more. Brian Stann and Wanderlei Silva engaged in a highly entertaining brawl for just under ten minutes and delivered an early candidate for Round of the Year.
BEST OF MAXIM
In what is now regarded as one of the most controversial decisions in recent memory, Diego Sanchez defeated Takanori Gomi via split decision in their UFC on Fuel TV 8 feature fight. The former Pride lightweight champion controlled the fight and clearly put on a better performance that his counterpart yet suffered a frustrating (and baffling) loss to Sanchez.
What is even more impressive...
On a night where eight of the card’s 11 fights went to the scorecards, it was only a matter of time before the three judges fumbled one of the decisions. Unfortunately for Takanori Gomi, they saved their error for his scrap against Diego Sanchez (pictured).
Although Gomi landed more significant strikes and total strikes in all three rounds than “The Dream,” the hometown boy...
Not unlike singer/songwriter/actor Tom Waits - Wanderlei Silva is big in Japan. After a six year absence from the world famous Saitama Super Arena, "The Axe Murderer" would return to turn back the clock, and oh did he ever. It was one of those magical nights in MMA history.
Wanderlei Silva and Brian Stann were a match made in hell. The end result saw both men receiving...
Now that “UFC on FUEL TV: Silva vs. Stann” is officially in the books, make sure to stream tonight’s post-fight press conference live right here on 5thRound.com.
The presser is scheduled to start at approximately 1:30AM ET/10:30PM PT.
In addition to UFC president Dana White (Pictured), Wanderlei Silva, Brian Stann, Stefan Struve, Mark Hunt and the card’s other featured fighters...
Stefan Struve isn’t the only one who broke something on Saturday night at UFC on FUEL TV 8. Lightweight Takanori Gomi revealed he fractured his right hand at some point during the opening round of his highly controversial defeat to Diego Sanchez.
As customary with most wounds suffered inside the Octagon, Gomi posted a picture of his X-ray on his official blog for the entire MMA...
Mark Hunt is one of, if not the hardest puncher in the UFC and when he lands one of his bombs with 4oz gloves, bad things happen. Well, as we saw last night, Hunt landed cleanly multiple times and connected big with a left hook walk off KO.
Struve tweeted the following after the fight:
“45 minutes to the hospital without painkillers.. Man, please choke me out.. Jaw is hurting...

Another UFC event has come and gone, and while the echoes of
Wanderlei's astonishing knockout of Brian Stann might still hang in the
Saitama Super Arena, the cage has been taken down, and the traveling
circus moves on.
It was a night of tremendous joy for fans of the old Pride Fighting
promotion, as Wanderlei Silva, Mark Hunt and Takanori Gomi...

There was no need for a third man in the cage when Hunt took on Stefan "The Skyscraper" Struve during the UFC on Fuel TV 8 co-main event in Saitama. Mark Hunt calls off his own fights, and after landing a left hook of doom that dropped his 7 foot tall opponent, he knew the next step would be heading over to collect his KO of the night...
When a guy is 5’10 and fights a guy who is 7’0, their stare down pic is a must see. Struve better use that distance to keep Hunt away from him, as Hunt could touch you and you could go to sleep.
Mark Hunt Is Ready
Struve Wants Title Shot
"I want to send a message to Wanderlei Silva. Our great champion. Our eternal great champion. I am a huge fan. I wish you all the best in your next fight. Go in there, as always do with your warrior style. Like a beast. Give your best. For sure you will win. Big hug Wandeco!"
"The fight I want right now he has a fight lined up, but the fight I want is Nate Diaz. I want to be the first one to say, ‘I beat both the Diaz brothers.' And I got the bigger brother on the resume already, so I want to go in there and get the little brother and we make – our styles make for an awesome, awesome fight. Ground battles — it's just a great fight and...
