Well, there goes the great Swedish Rocky story we were hoping for. Despite some good effort from the Swede coming into this fight on 3 days notice, Latifi seemed outright spent from the massive weight cut and the enormous pressure on his shoulders to fight in front of thousands of his countrymen. Ultimately he had nothing for Mousasi, who jabbed his way into bloodying the face of Latifi with ease. In the other fights on the card, Randy Couture’s son, Ryan had his first fight outside of Strikeforce and his first fight outside the country and it ended up being the first time he was ever finished after Ross Pearson was through with him. Matt Mitrione seemed to knock out Phil De Fries with his hip, which probably saved Meathead’s job. Then Brad Pickett and Mike Easton had a FANTASTIC back and forth fight, as those guys usually do. Other performances of note include Conor McGregor’s UFC debut after leaving behind his dual Cage Warrior championships in Ireland, and Tom Lawlor kept his c...

UFC on FUEL TV 9: Ross Pearson’s Vicious TKO on Ryan Couture (Video)

Ryan Couture made UFC history Saturday when he followed in his dad’s footsteps by fighting inside the Octagon, becoming the only father-son duo to compete for the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion. However, unlike with UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, Ryan lost his big league debut. Ross Pearson (pictured) is the man who rained on the Coutures’ parade. After dropping...

Despite Decision Win Over Heavy Underdog, Dana White Still Thrilled with Gegard Mousasi

Gegard Mousasi (pictured) was pegged as a whopping 14-to-1 odds-on favorite against Ilir Latifi at UFC on FUEL TV 9. For obvious reasons, most fans expected Mousasi to quickly dispose of the last-second substitute. However, Mousasi had many baffled when he wasn’t able to muster up more than his lightning-fast left jab on Latifi for a unanimous decision victory. Nonetheless, UFC...

Perspective: The Curious Case of Gegard Mousasi

This Saturday the UFC returns to Sweden for the second time for another installment of The UFC on Fuel TV series. However, less than a week out from fight night the main event fell prey to the dreaded injury bug when Alexander Gustafsson did not receive clearance from the Swedish Mixed Martial Arts Federation to compete due to a cut above his left eye. The UFC certainly isn’t happy...

Ross Pearson broke his foot moments before fighting Ryan Couture, but still pulled off the impressive win.

Imagine what kind of night it would’ve been if lightweight Ross Pearson decided that he couldn’t go on to fight Ryan Couture after breaking his foot warming up. First Gustaffson, now this? But the British banger carried on with his bum foot in impressive fashion, stopping Ryan Couture for the first time in the fighter’s life. Pearson admitted he broke the foot immediately after...

Pearson stepping up

Ross Pearson stepped up as Saturday's UFC on Fuel TV 9 card appeared set to crumble.
