UFC officials announced today that newly-signed light heavyweight Roger Hollett has suffered an injury and Vladimir Matyushenko has been tabbed as his replacement. Matyushenko will now welcome Matt Hamill back to the UFC at September’s UFC 152 event.
Matyusheno hasn’t fought since a first-round technical knockout loss to Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 141 in December. Prior to the loss, Matyushenko had won four of his last five fights since rejoining the UFC in 2009.
Hamill makes his return from a brief retirement that lasted roughly a year. Like Matyushenko, Hamill’s last loss came at the hands of Gustafsson as well. He suffered a second-round technical knockout loss at UFC 133 and shortly after announced his retirement.
UFC 152 takes place September 22nd at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is headlined by the inaugural UFC flyweight championship bout between Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson.
