• Entering the weekend with high hopes, Michael McDowell secured the fifth starting position in the No. 18 K-Love Toyota Camry for the Johnsonville 200 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. • Settling in for the scheduled 50 laps around the four-mile track, McDowell quickly moved into the second position on the first lap and running lap times the same as the leaders, looked poised for a strong finish on the Wisconsin road course. • As McDowell made his way around the turns of the course on lap three, the No. 18 K-Love Toyota began having issues and stalled on the track before completely shutting off. The team brought McDowell to pit road to diagnose the problem and decided to bring the car behind the wall for repairs. With a team effort by all of the Joe Gibbs Racing teams, McDowell returned to the track five laps down to the leaders. • McDowell was able to continue the race and run lap times competitive to the leaders, but luck and cautions would not fall the teams way until late in the race. McDowell was able to get two laps back and following two attempts at a green-white-checker finish, finished the race in the 34th position. • AJ Allmendinger won the Johnsonville 200 followed by Justin Allgaier, Parker Kligerman, Owen Kelly and Sam Hornish Jr. -Joe Gibbs Racing PR
