The season is winding down and the championship contenders are heating up. Coming into the race, James Buescher was in third, eleven points back of Ty Dillon but after Buescher took home the victory Friday night in Kentucky, he is now only three points out of the lead. Buescher is hunting his first NASCAR Truck Series championship and winning four races this season, will help Buescher. Buescher won the Camping World Truck Series race Friday Night at the Kentucky Speedway after having the best truck. Buescher led off and on all night but it was in the second half of the race when he got up front and stayed there.

Joey Coulter started on the pole and he led until the first caution of the night came out on lap 16. Todd Bodine brought out the caution after he got loose and spun around in turn three. The leaders came down pit road and Parker Kligerman won the race off pit road followed by Brian Scott and Joey Coulter. Brian Scott made a quick move on the restart to take the lead. We weren’t even finished with the first lap after the restart and the yellow flag flew. A big wreck began in turn three when Johnny Sauter had a tire go down and he slowed on the track. That started a chain reaction of drivers sliding into Sauter including the No.11 of Todd Bodine and the No.2 of Tim George Jr. All three trucks received a lot of damage.

Todd Bodine has had a bad season, almost every week we see Bodine involved in a crash or behind the wall. Bodine commented after the wreck and said that “It’s getting old.” James Buescher took the lead for the first time on lap 34 when he passed Brian Scott. The next caution came out on the same lap the pass for the lead was made. The caution involved Brian Silas who got loose and backed his truck into the turn two wall. We saw the yellow flag wave again on lap 47 for the No.14 of Brennan Newberry who got loose and backed his truck into the turn three wall. The leaders made a stop on pit road but last week’s winner Ryan Blaney stayed out on the track to take the lead.

A yellow flag packed race continued when we saw another caution for a big wreck involving championship contender Timothy Peters. The wreck started when the No.8 of Max Gresham got loose and spun up into Peters and they both hit the turn two wall hard. The wreck hadn’t ended yet. When Peter’s No.17 truck rolled down the track after hitting the wall, he made hard contact with John King in the No.5 truck that lifted the back of Peters’ truck up into the air. The truck did come back down quickly and everyone was ok. After dominating the race at Bristol a month ago, Peters hasn’t been able to be as competitive. He has been involved in wrecks and he went from first to third in the points.

The race spread out a little bit after that incident. The next caution came out on lap 80 when Parker Kligerman got loose while racing John Wes Townley for third and Kligerman spun through the infield grass on the frontstrecth. James Buescher then became the new leader. The final caution of the night came out for Jason White in the No.23 who cut down a tire and hit the turn two wall hard. That was the final caution of the race and James Buescher sailed ahead on the restart.

Buescher had the dominant truck of the night and he crossed the finish line first to take home his fourth win of the season. Buescher could now be called the mile and a half king. All Buescher’s career truck series wins have been on mile and a half tracks. Buescher has won at Kansas, Chicago and now Kentucky twice. Every time we go to mile and a half tracks, Buescher will be a threat to win. Ty Dillon finished third and he remains the point’s leader. James Buescher closed the point’s gap and is now only three points behind Dillon.

The exciting championship run in the truck series is just beginning, check back for the next round of racing next weekend in Las Vegas.
