Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) will further scale back their 2012 fleet as the team plans to run just one full time NASCAR Nationwide Series car in 2012. The car will be driven by either Trevor Bayne or Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Stenhouse won the 2011 Nationwide championship while Trevor Bayne won the Daytona 500 in the #21 Wood Brothers Ford. Speaking to NASCAR.com team owner Jack Roush said that one would likely drive the Nationwide car and the other would drive the #21 in a limited schedule.
The #6 Sprint Cup car of David Ragan is not expected to run next season. Ragan’s car finished 23rd in owner points and won the July race at Daytona but has not lived up to expectations at RFR. The lack of sponsorship for the car has put it’s 2012 status as doubtful.
Ragan says he would be would be willing to run the Nationwide circuit and while Roush says he has looked for sponsorship nothing is impediment.
