MIAMI BEACH, FLA. – Richard Childress Racing’s Ty Dillon was officially named the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year on Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The 20-year-old grandson of Richard Childress claimed the Sunoco rookie honors with his 25-place finish at the Homestead, Fla., facility following a season-long battle with two other drivers....
Austin Dillon led the way with a lap of 32.292 seconds in the final practice for the Ford EcoBoost 300 from Homestead. Rounding out the top five was Joey Coulter, Mike Bliss, Regan Smith, and Danica Patrick. Championship leader Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. posted the 15th best time, 0.554 seconds off the lap of Dillon.
