The Boston Celtics led by the 35-year-old Kevin Garnett are showing the Miami Heat and the rest of the world they can still compete at a very high level. The Celtics were behind in the first quarter of play last night as it looked like the Heat were going to run away with game five, wasn’t enough to shake the Celtics out of a win. Garnett, Pierce and Rondo were able to hold their ground and come from behind to take control of the game and when the final buzzer sounded it was the Celtics who would get the win.

Doc Rivers was able to keep his Celtics team on track, the Celtics would show the world their experience in big games would come through as they won game five on the road in Miami. Paul Pierce would hit a key three-point shot with less than two minutes to go to give the Boston Celtics a lead that was too much for the Heat to over-come. It was the play of Garnett, Rondo and Pierce that kept the Celtics in the game. The Heat looked a little stunned as the fourth quarter started and the Celtics were able to take advantage of them.

Boston and Miami will play game six at the Garden in front of the home town crowd in a must win game if the Heat don’t want to see their season come to an end. The Boston Celtics know the task at hand, many think the Celtics will be able to close out the series with a win on game six.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino Mistakenly Refers to Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo as 'KJ' and 'Hondo' (Video)

The Boston Celtics look to have turned back the clock and found a much younger, more spry group of players in the year's postseason run. But it appears that Boston Mayor Thomas Menino may have turned things back a little too far. Menino wanted to pass on some praise to the successful hometown team on Wednesday, even calling out some Celtics players by name. The issue: it wasn...

Garnett Leads the Celtics to victory

Kevin Garnett may be 36 years old but he still plays with the same fire and passion that he did as a rookie. Garnett was unstoppable in the Boston Celtics game 5 win over the Miami Heat 94 to 90. There is no question that Garnett is the leader of this team. Garnett finished the game with 26 points and made a pair of free throws with 8 seconds left to seal the victory...

Mayor apologizes for name gaffes

Boston mayor Thomas Menino issued an apology on Twitter for mistakenly referring to Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo as "KJ" and "Hondo."

Kevin Garnett is everything the Heat are not

KG is everything Miami lacks. He's tough, he's a leader, he's big and strong, he takes no prisoners.

Reliving KG's craziest moments

Earlier this year, published video clips of Kevin Garnett's 15 Craziest Moments. With KG dominating the 2012 NBA playoffs in ways only he can, I figure it's a good time to relive the insanity. The video above is Rajon Rondo's reaction to hearing Garnett's screams from the next room. It's #15 on the list and its priceless. Here's the other...

2012 NBA Playoffs: Kevin Garnett Dunks On James Jones (Eastern Conference Finals - Game 5)

Kevin Garnett Proving Intensity, Team Attitude As Hard to Copy As Physical Attributes

The 2003 draft profile for Chris Bosh, a freshman out of Georgia Tech, oozed with comparisons to Kevin Garnett. The unnatural athleticism and guard-worthy skills in their long, wiry frames made the two so similar, Bosh readily admitted to patterning aspects of his game after the then-eight-year veteran. Nine years later, Bosh has put together a nice career for himself. He was taken...

Boston mayor mistakenly refers to Garnett and Rondo as "K.J" and "Hondo" (Video)

Boston Celtics stars Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo are two of the team's best-known players and have been given tons of credit for leading the Celtics to a 3-2 series lead in the NBA Eastern Conference finals. However, the mayor of Boston had trouble remembering their names during a television interview Wednesday. Mayor Thomas Menino, the longest serving mayor in Boston...

Forget the Heat, Celtics are the Real Story

Take a trip back to February 22nd. The Boston Celtics had a record of 15-17, were almost out of the playoff picture, and were on a five game losing streak. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett all were being tagged with the “washed up” label, and the story around this team was whether or not it was time to move forward and start a new era of C’s basketball at the trade...

Boston Mayor Praises Great Play By ‘KJ and Hondo’

Mayor Thomas Menino, who is the longest-serving Boston Mayor in history, really did stay up a bit too late watching the Celtics beat the Heat in Game 5. The Mayor gets asked a few questions on the Celtics and what he thinks are the keys to their success. Mr. menino does a great job at responding initially in vague terms, but when he tries to single out Kevin Garnett and Rajon...

Celtics' Veteran Advantage, Experience Together Allows Squad to 'Stay With It' (Video)

The Boston Celtics have been together in, more or less, their current form since 2007. That's the kind of experience that allows a team to know where everyone is going to be on the floor without even looking. It may also be the kind of experience that's the reason the Celts currently hold a 3-2 series advantage over the Miami Heat, one game away from the NBA Finals. As a...

POTD 6/5/12: KG Destroys James Jones

Contrary to what his recent play would suggest, Kevin Garnett is no spring chicken.  At 36 years old, I believe he’s played more minutes than any active player not named Kobe Bryant (and Kobe’s only got him by about a thousand—both players have put in better than 50,000 over the course of their careers).  Still, if given free range to gather himself and only a late-arriving...

Celtics Beat Heat 94-90 in Game 5

The Boston Celtics are one game away from reaching the NBA Finals after beating the Miami Heat 94-90 in Game 5. The Celtics have won three straight games after being down 2-0 to the Heat and have a chance to end the series in Boston for Game 6. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics in points with 26 and rebounds with 11.  Rajon Rondo, who has been sensational for Boston finished with 13...

After Boston Mayor Thomas Menino's 'KJ and Hondo' comment, What Is His Best Blunder?

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has gotten a lot of laughs in this city over the last decade. Since Boston sports teams have been winning titles and making deep postseason runs, Menino is often asked his opinion and to give some predictions. Most recently, he mixed up Kevin Garnett's "KG" nickname and called him, "KJ." In the same interview, he said "Hondo...
