Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Finally, we can say it's playoff time. This year's playoffs might be depressing, but we'll pull through it. If the C's can win one series this year, I'll be happy. They're underdogs and you know the refs won't help them out when the scoring champ plays at home. But you never know. The game hasn't been played yet. Here are the five things for today's game 1:
If the Celtics are serious about winning this postseason, they're gonna have to defend like hell. Nothing easy. Guard Melo with your life. If he gets hot, the game's over.
4. PLAY THE WAY YOU CAN:
In the regular season, the Celtics didn't play up to their potential. They had to have given at least 5 games to their opponents. Sometimes they just didn't try. This can't happen in this series.
3. HAVE GREEN SCORE 30+:
After this year, Jeff Green will likely become the leader of what will be a somewhat rebuilding team. Now is his time to shine. They need to him to have stretches of big games.
2. HAVE PIERCE AND GARNETT SCORE 20+:
These guys are old, but it's tough to notice. This series could be these guys' last as Celtics. If it is, they should make it a good one. The Celtics will need them at their best.
1. STAY FOCUSED:
If you're down by 10 mid-way through the second quarter, if doesn't mean that you'll lose. You can comeback. This team is so much better than people think. I know that if they really want to win this series, they will. That means frequent practices and smart game plans.
Tip-off for this one will be at 3:00 pm ET. It'll be on ABC. Good luck Celtics. Everyone here at CG believes in you guys.
BEST OF MAXIM
Coming into the season, one of the big question marks was what kind of player Jeff Green was going to be.
Green was working his way back from heart surgery and had just signed a much criticized four-year $36 million contract.
He came out of the gate slow, scoring just 8.7 ppg and 2.5 rpg in 15 games in November. But Green improved as the year went along and in the final month...
NEW YORK – It’s been a game of runs, but the Celtics are riding Jeff Green to a 53-49 lead at the half. Green has 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting, hitting all three of his shots from beyond the arch and making several stops at the rim on Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin. Anthony has 19 points on the other end, but is shooting just 2-for-11 since getting off to a hot 4-for...
It was a tale of two halves, really. The Boston Celtics, highlighted by Jeff Green, were near unstoppable in the first half of action of Game 1 vs. the New York Knicks in the Madison Square Garden. They shot almost 53% from the floor, 40% from three-point land and saw Jeff Green explode for 20 points on 7-10 shooting. That, alone, was already good for Green’s playoff-career...
The NBA post season is underway and we have already witnessed our first amazing dunk in the first game. “Sixth Man of the Year” candidate, JR Smith came off the bench in the first half to score 11 points in 10 minutes during the first half. One of those baskets was this dunk where JR bangs on Celtics Jeff Green.
When JR goes inside, the Knicks are hard to beat. JR ended the...
Jeff Green and Avery Bradley both had solid games in the loss. Additional highlights for both of them courtesy of OfficialCelticsHD below.
Jeff Green was busy carrying the Celtics, lifting them into the lead after three quarters at Madison Square Garden, when Paul Pierce jumped in, grabbed the mic and performed the basketball-playing equivalent of a Kanye West impersonation.
“Imma let you finish, but …”
Only Pierce, like West, never did let Green finish. (Yes, in this scenario, Green is Taylor Swift. Nobody ever...
Knicks 85, Celtics 78
The Celtics did everything they had to do to be in a position to steal Game 1. They contained the league’s leading scorer, got Jeff Green going on offense, and kept it close before collapsing in the final minutes. So the question is, should they be encouraged by their performance over the first 42 minutes? Or discouraged about their...
The script wasn’t supposed to go like this.
Jeff Green and Avery Bradley weren’t supposed to lead the Celtics into the locker room as the team’s two leading scorers at halftime yesterday. They were supposed to be the sidebar to the main feature: Paul Pierce eating up the Madison Square Garden hate and spitting it back at the crowd with dagger after dagger. They were supposed...
The immense intriguing and tremendous rivalry between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks will take the 2013 NBA playoff stage on Saturday at 3 p.m.
That being said, this matchup consists of high expectations and many distinct clashes between a star and uprising star, the guard play and Amar’e Stoudemire’s absence.
Jeff Green vs. Scoring champion Carmelo Anthony
The Knicks fans are right up there with the Heat and Lakers fans for being bandwagon fans and also classless. I'm glad that Melo at least called them out for booing Pierce when he was giving a tribute to the bombing victims. Seeing them complain so much about the officiating when they were calling the game fairly evenly, missing calls both ways but not as bad as they...

A wild matinee took place in Madison Square Garden as the New York Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics 85-78 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
The first clash between the two Atlantic division squads did not disappoint, especially from a New York state of mind. In the first half of play both teams, respectively,...
Celtics Players and What to Watch For:
Today at 3pm the New York Knicks will begin their journey on a road to a hopeful Championship run. The first obstacle for the Knicks is the dreaded Boston Celtics who are not as good as the old Celtics, but still playoff tested and dangerous.
Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jeff Green are now the Celtics nucleus. Pierce is not...

NEW YORK -- The first game of the 2013 NBA Playoffs did not disappoint. It was everything a Celtics, Knicks, or any basketball fan in general could ask for. There was defense, good ball-movement, and a close game up until the last three minutes. In the end, the New York Knicks prevailed over the Boston Celtics 85-78. Boston went with their bigger lineup once again, with...
When the Jazz lost to the Grizzlies and the Lakers beat the Rockets last night, it not only secured a playoff seat for the rival Purple and Gold but it also moved them up from eighth to seventh seed in the Western Conference (pitting them against the #2 Spurs in the first round). Similarly, the C's will be entering the postseason as the seventh seed in the East in a roller...
