Via WEEI.com's Jess Camerato:After suffering three concussions in less than a month last season,
Brian Scalabrine wants to play it safe. That’s why he chose not to play
at all this summer.
“I didn’t play any basketball,” Scalabrine told WEEI.com last week
at the USI Shamrock Classic. “I didn’t want to risk getting a
concussion in that environment. So I just didn’t play any basketball
and then I’ve been playing since I got back here.”“We’re just going to take it day by day and see what happens,” he said.
“The only time you’re really going to know is until you take a blow.
It’s going to happen one time or another, just how I respond to it is
going to be key.”Here's hoping Scal stays healthy this season. He may be the butt of a lot of jokes, but there's nothing funny about head injuries.

Slam Brings Up An Awful Memory For No Good Reason
For some reason unbeknown to me, Ryan Desmarais of Slam Online decided to write yet another column on Paul Pierce and the night he was nearly stabbed to death. They (the scars) remind us of the police reports, of hearing
that Pierce was attacked by a group of men early that morning, of how
he was stabbed in the back, face, and neck a total of 11 times and had
a bottle...
Rondo speaks
With an off-season of trade rumors and extension talks, the buzz around Rajon Rondo this summer has been anything but boring. SI.com's Paul Forrester recently caught up with R2D2 (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/paul_forrester/09/22/rondo/), and spoke about leadership, maturity, egos, and the extension: (http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-blog/index.ssf...

I just finished watching Comcast Sports Tonight and during the Celtics segment (they were talking about these comments by Ron Artest and the matchup problem he poses for Paul Pierce) Michael Felger referenced an old report about KG having staples in his knee. Say what? A quick Google search revealed this tweet from Bill Simmons last week:1 more KG note: This wasn't a typical...

Constant Reminders
by Ryan Desmarais
You can see some of them every time Paul Pierce steps on the court. The next time the camera focuses in on his back, look just above the top trim of his jersey.
You’ll see two diagonal marks. They’re noticeable, but far from massive or extravagant. In fact, you’d probably think nothing of them if you didn’t know the story behind them.
But there is a story...
