Losing, and the act of being a loser is often one of the most shameful and disappointing feelings one can feel, both as a player and a fan of that losing team. As competitors, whether it be baseball, basketball, or in the form of racing that I do myself, losing is one of the worst feelings one can endure. As the great Ricky Bobby once said, “if you ain’t first your last”. We hate to lose,  even as fans we develop a relationship with our teams, and losing hurts us just as much as it hurts the team, sometimes more. Last night, to many felt as though we lost a member of our family. Yes the Celtics put forth a valiant effort, but the overwhelming sense was that we may have seen the last game in the storied career of Kevin Garnett, and possibly Paul Pierce. The emotional embrace at the sideline between Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett will stand in my memory for some time, it may have been the last time I see one of the greatest players in the history of the game on the court. But as I took ...

Kevin Garnett receives an MVP vote, finishes tied for 12th in voting

In his 18th season in the NBA, Kevin Garnett is still an incredibly valuable player. You can see some of that value in his stats (14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in just 29.7 minutes), you can see it on the scoreboard (the Celtics were 6 points better per 100 possessions this season with KG on the court, compared to when he sat), and you can see it in the MVP voting. Wait...

Kevin Garnett is rebounding at a historic rate, and he's getting better as the series goes on

In Game 1 of this series Kevin Garnett scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.  In Game 2 he posted 12 and 11, Game Three 12 and 17, Game Four 13 and 17, and in Game 5 he had 16 points and 18 boards.  At this pace should we expect a 20/20 game from him tonight? Garnett's 14.4 rebounds per game lead the entire league this postseason.  He's the first Celtic player to pull...

Your Morning Dump… Where KG is chomping glass

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Two weeks shy of his 37th birthday, Kevin Garnett finds himself in the midst of maybe the most impressive rebounding stretch of his entire 18-year NBA career. Try these numbers on for size: Not only does the Celtics...

Doc Rivers-Just call him Mr. President

"Doc always has energy, That's the best thing about him, that's what makes him the best coach. He always has energy. He can't have a down day.....he's our main leader. He's the president, then you've got the vice president, the secretary, the treasurers, all that – it goes down the line. So he has to have energy."- Terrence Williams In an outstanding...

Will The Boston Celtics Buy Out Paul Pierce?

credit: www2.ljworld.com With the Boston Celtics already on the brink of elimination in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, many have began to look at what the next step is for the franchise. Their core players, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, will not be getting any younger, and it appears that a roster overhaul may be needed. The big question is what will happen...

Pierce Will Play Next Season, Unsure Of Future With Celtics

Paul Pierce plans to play next season, and it seems as though it won't matter if he's still with the Boston Celtics. "That's up to Danny [Ainge] and them," Pierce said when asked if he expects to be with the Celtics in 2013-14. "I definitely expect to be playing," he added, alluding that he'd consider continuing his career with another team. There...

Doc Rivers, Celtics Do ‘Need More’ Next Season, But Fans Might Not Like What It Takes to Get There

In the immediate aftermath of the Celtics’ loss to the Knicks last Friday, Doc Rivers had no answers as to what his team could look like when the 2013-14 season tips off. All things considered, it was probably better that way. Rivers believes he has to “immerse” himself in the moment to be an effective in-game coach, and there was no more vital moment in which to immerse himself...

R for reloading, not rebuilding

Following the elimination of our Boston Celtics last Friday you may have found your TL in twitter filled with articles of the main reporters out there citing the likeliness of the end of the Garnett era in Boston. That, coupled with the logical sadness after falling to the Knicks may have colored your basketball dreams in black gloom. First, and before entering into an analysis...

Your Morning Dump… Where there are no answers yet on the future of KG and Truth

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “I haven’t really thought about it, to be honest with you. I’m kind of digesting , obviously, the current, and Doc came to me, pulled Paul and I to the side and all three of us agreed to speak later — too...

Carmelo Anthony says KG "yanked his arm out"

Poor Carmelo Anthony. He's taken so much abuse this season. First Kevin Garnett told him his wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios. Or maybe he didn't. Anyway, then Jordan Crawford most certainly said something else not so nice about Melo's wife. Now, on top of all that. Melo's arm hurts. CSNNE: "He yanked my arm out," Anthony said of Garnett. "It...

Celtics fans chant “Honey Nut Cheerios” at Carmelo Anthony

Back in January, Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett made the term “Honey Nut Cheerios” into a whole new thing after he spent some time trash-talking Carmelo Anthony about his wife, La La Vazquez. Flash-forward to today, Celtics fans decided to serenade Carmelo with those exact words as he made his way to the Knicks bench area during game six of their first-round playoff series...

Celtic veterans leave court quickly, forget their class behind

And like that…poof…they’re gone Is a post-series handshake a common and expected part of an NBA Playoffs series? That’s a legitimate question. I won’t contend that the league is anything like the NHL, whose post-series lineup is just one of the absolutely stellar traditions that make its postseason so phenomenal. But I would contend at least a quick fist bump or bro-hug...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tonight - Game 6

Tonight, the Celtics will look to even up their series with the Knicks when they play what could be their final game at the TD Garden this season. The Celtics have been in complete control in these last two games, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Right now, the Celtics are the better team. They have more experience and more momentum. I'll be shocked if they drop...

Sunday, Bloody Sunday – Knicks Beat Up In Game 1

The New York Knicks didn’t look ready for the second round of the NBA Playoffs today. Maybe they were out with JR Smith at the 40/40 Club until 2AM last night. Maybe they thought they were still playing a team led by a dead-legged Paul Pierce, Terrence Williams and Avery Bradley. Whatever the reason, the Knicks were beat up by the Indiana Pacers who played with more energy, more...

Can the Celtics recreate Boston sporting history?

Less than a week ago, the Boston Celtics trailed 3-0 in the series against age-old rivalries, the New York Knicks. Instead of submitting to defeat, the Celtics moved a step closer to doing the unthinkable when on Wednesday night they defeated the Knicks 92-86 in Game 5 of their best-of-seven series. Trailing 3-2, the Celtics will show their worth tonight in Boston in Game 6 and if...
