Danny Ainge analyzed the Boston Celtics' status with Rajon Rondo and said the report that the New York Knicks turned down a trade for Rondo last summer is “maybe the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard.” Ainge again dismissed talk of Rondo's availability. "That’s all speculation,” Ainge said. “Those aren’t facts. People don’t know that, so it’s just people speculating on Rondo’s free agency next summer. That’s all that you’re hearing. You’re not hearing any facts from anybody. Those conversations haven’t even been discussed, so that’s just speculation. “We love Rondo, and Rondo loves us. We don’t feel like there’s pressure that we have to do something or there’s some sort of deadline that something has to get done by. You know, sure Rondo has to see progress and Rondo has to believe that we’re going to be contenders and be in the picture and have something. "But that’s an ongoing thing. I mean, we feel that way with everybody.”

Rondo is still the playoff triple-double master

Watching how fantastic the 2014 NBA playoffs have been without the Celtics participation had me a bit green with envy.  It will be great once they’re back in, but it also got me thinking of how amazing it was watching Rajon Rondo step up his game when the lights were shining the brightest.  Last week, when I saw Russell Westbrook’s debatable triple-double it got me wondering...

Rajon Rondo may be more available in trade than ever before

The rumors that Rajon Rondo is available in a trade or that the Boston Celtics are looking to deal him have been floating around for years, yet the point guard has remained a Celtic his entire career. Might that finally change? It sounds like a possibility if you believe the Boston Herald. The Herald’s Steve […]

Celtics Supposedly Looking to Trade Rondo….Again

A couple of weeks have went passed, so time to spark up those Rondo trade rumors again. Here is what they are saying now courtesy of Boston Herald and Danny Ainge denying it for the 100th time. We’ve been hearing for a while and in more concerted tones here is that Rajon Rondo may be more available now than ever before. The Celts’ president of basketball operations, as well,...

Danny Ainge likes Marcus Smart's "fire"

Marcus Smart is going to be a great player in the NBA. Whether or not he'll start his career in Boston is up to Celtics GM Danny Ainge and the lottery gods.I've already gone over why I think Smart would be a spectacular pick for Boston here and here's his combine interview but for a quick recap: -Bulldog mentality-Strong as hell-Can score inside against anyone a la Russell...

Rajon Rondo's future with Celtics

While the Celtics are here at the NBA draft combine primarily to identify people they might like to add to their team, it’s fair to assume they’ll also be examining which present players will stay and go. We’ve been told that Washington isn’t presently interested in Jeff Green at his numbers ($9.2 million next year and a player option for the same in 2015-16), and that a...

Danny Ainge: ‘We love Rondo, and Rondo loves us’

Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge says people are just speculating that point guard Rajon Rondo is on the trade block. “That’s all speculation,” Ainge said, per the Boston Herald. “Those aren’t facts. People don’t know that, so it’s just people speculating on Rondo’s free agency next summer. That’s all that you’re hearing. You’re...

Celtics Rumors: Might Rajon Rondo soon be moved?

Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo has had his name mentioned in trade rumors for the past several seasons, though the team has never actually pulled the trigger on a deal. However, as Rondo gets set to enter the final year of his current contract, might Danny Ainge be more inclined to finally trade his All-Star guard? According to The Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett, that may well...

Rondo's future in Boston still unclear, after Danny Ainge seems intrigued with point guards in this years draft

The Rajon Rondo rumor button has been pressed, and maybe ESPN's Stephen A. Smith has more insight than we think. I admit, I think a lot of what he does is over the top, and that's why he's on TV. He's also been wrong in the past on many odd ball rumors. When it comes to reliable rumors. The man, the myth, the legend that is Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, is one...

Danny Ainge Shoots Down Stephen A. Smith’s Rajon Rondo Trade Report

Danny Ainge dispelled a Stephen A. Smith report concerning Rajon Rondo in the most fitting way possible — by using the type of word Smith would use on ESPN First Take to describe the same rumor, had it been reported by somebody else. “Ludicrous” was how Ainge described an ESPN.com report that the New York Knicks had “snubbed” a trade to acquire Rondo from the Boston Celtics...

The NBA playoffs miss Rajon Rondo (and his triple-doubles)

Nobody triple-doubles like Rondo triple-doubles.Former Celtics coach Doc Rivers liked to say that his title-winning starting five from 2008 (Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins) never lost a playoff series together.  In 2009 Garnett was out for the postseason, and in 2010 the Lakers ruined Perkins' knee in Game 6 of the Finals.  Boston traded...

Stephen A. Smith: “Knicks snubbed a trade that would’ve brought Rajon Rondo to New York”

According to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, at some point this year, or last year, or whenever, the Knicks “snubbed a trade that would’ve brought Rajon Rondo to New York.”  A little background here: in the story, Stephen A is going off on the Knicks for bumbling the Steve Kerr hiring which leads to several things that their star player, Carmelo Anthony is monitoring.  One of...

Your Morning Dump… Where Pierce signals a desire to return to Boston?

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Though Pierce, a free agent to be, walked through the Nets’ practice gym on the team’s breakup day without speaking to reporters, it was impossible to miss the 16-year veteran was wearing a Boston Red Sox hat...

Paul Pierce eyeing Celtics, Clippers in free agency?

The Brooklyn Nets were extremely disappointed following their elimination loss to the Miami Heat in the second round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs. Paul Pierce was upset with the Nets’ inability to close out Game 5 when they led the Heat by 10 points with just a few minutes left in the game. There are already rumors beginning to pop up about where Pierce might sign as a free agent this...

Danny Ainge on Marcus Smart: ‘I Like His Fire’

Has Danny Ainge found a suitable replacement for Rajon Rondo? Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told the media at the NBA Draft Combine that the fan-shoving incident that led to Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart three game suspension, isn’t necessarily a negative when it comes to evaluating the temperamental point guard. “I sorta like Marcus Smart. I like...
