Found April 13, 2013 on CLNS Radio:
While preparing for an upcoming column, I stumbled across this emotional tribute to the original Boston Garden. I remember this actual report when it aired 2 decades ago. At the tender age of 14, I had the good fortune of visiting the original Boston Garden. Always looking so beautiful on television, the parquet floor glistened and the banners that crowded the Garden rafters made the venue the most hallowed hall in all of Basketball. The rest of the place was quite a mess. Stinking of stale beer, musty mildew and old peanut shells, the hallways not seen on TV had more charisma, charm and mystique than any other venue in the NBA. The Boston Celtics won 16 of their NBA record 17 titles on the original parquet floor at Boston Garden. Red Auerbach won his 9th title and retired from coaching on that court. Hondo, Gerald Henderson and Larry-Legend stole the ball on three separate occasions. Garfield Heard hit the shot heard round the world. The Lakers finally snapped the curse on that cou...

Brandon Bass’ Improved Play in Celtics’ Bigger Lineup

With the return of Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics forward Brandon Bass could get more opportunities to drive toward the basket. Boston Celtics forward Brandon Bass has improved his play since Doc Rivers inserted Chris Wilcox in the starting lineup for the 93-92 victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 27th. Over the last eight games, Bass has scored in double figures in seven...

Comments from the Other Side - Magic 4/13

At least JET's trash talk didn't come back to bite him in this game.  The terrible Magic lived up to their reputation.  I'm with Orlando fans on this one, though.  I really wish he's just be quiet.  We don't need to give teams any added motivation.  They all hate the Celtics enough already as it is.  It sure was good to get a convincing victory for once...

3 reasons why this Celtics vs Heat game tonight might still be worth watching

What will Green do for an encore? Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett aren't going to play in Miami this evening.  Dwyane Wade is, but LeBron and Chris Bosh are still up in the air.  Neither team cares about winning this game; at all.  The playoffs are a week away, and the rest of the regular season is basically meaningless.  Especially for the Heat, who have already locked up...

Clinched: Boston Celtics stomp Orlando Magic 120-88

Despite an inefficient night from Pierce, the Celtics pounded the Magic.Well, they did it. For better or worse, the Celtics have clinched the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, thereby avoiding a first-round matchup with the Miami Heat. Instead, Boston will face the New York Knicks, a team which has had considerable success against the C’s throughout the season. But all of...

Rajon Rondo, To Trade Or Not To Trade, That is the Question

Boston Celtics: Should They Trade Rajon Rondo? Do the Boston Celtics trade Rajon Rondo, or do they keep him? This has been the question that has been discussed among Boston fans since the end of January. Rondo has been with the Celtics since he was traded after being selected 21st overall in 2006 by the Phoenix Suns. Celtics coach, Doc Rivers has always liked Rondo’s hustle and...

Celtics vs. Heat this time around doesn’t have the same Miami vs. Boston buzz that we’re used to but is still important

The Celtics-Heat rivalry has been strong ever since the self-proclaimed King James decided to famously take his talents to South Beach.  Miami had the talent, but Boston had the experience—up until last year when the new big three, donning Miami red, captured the allusive NBA championship and Boston and Miami’s roles were immediately changed.  Tonight will most definitely have...

Jeff Green Dunks All Over The Heat

Follow @TheNosebleeds Jeff Green is not afraid. The swing forward has been a matchup nightmare for Celtics opponents since finding his stride in the second half of the 2012-13 season, but he has been particularly effective against smaller lineups. As you can see in this video, when the Heat throw out a small lineup with Chris Andersen at the 5, Jeff makes posters. His emergence...
