Boston Sports Media Watch:
Celtics (18-4) vs. Kings (13-14)
Sunday, December 2
In the third consecutive game and fourth in the past fifth nights, the Celtics started strong but finished flat to lose to the Kings in Kansas City, 94-88. Losses were rare a quarter of the way into the season, and this defeat ended a six game winning streak. Only 23 games in and the Celtics had already put together winning streaks of four, six, and six to jump out to first place in the Atlantic Division (though Philadelphia was knocking on the door with a 19-7 record).
Larry Bird fought through his toughest night offensively as a pro, finishing with only 4 points on 4 attempts. As phenomenal as Bird played during his senior year at Indiana State, averaging 29 and 15 per game and leading the Sycamores to a national title game, he only played in 34 games that entire season. The NBA provided a much more grueling schedule, as the calendar just turned December and the Celtics were already playing their 23rd ga...

Boston Globe:President of basketball operations Danny Ainge said he had a private conversation with Rondo regarding his third suspension in nine months, and he understands that Rondo’s temper and passion won’t change.
“Rondo and I talked and I think Rondo is not happy with the fact that he’s not there on this team in the next two games,” Ainge said Friday. “I think that’s...
Bleacher Report’s Jared Wade researched the NBA’s best shooters from each area on the court.
Three Celtics make the Top 10 in the mid-range category (10 – 23 feet); Jason Terry (not surprised), Courtney Lee (mildly suprised considering his rough start to season) and… Rajon Rondo.
The Mid-Range (minimum 20 makes)
1. Chris Bosh, 48-for-85 (56.5 percent)
2. Beno Udrih, 28-for...
It wasn't quite Celtics-Lakers (although the uniforms the D-League teams were wearing and the "Beat LA" shirts in the audience might suggest otherwise), but Fab Melo had a few nice highlights when the Maine Red Claws took on the Los Angeles D-fenders this weekend at the Red Claws' home opener. Video courtesy of the NBA D-League.
After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value.
Offense: Defense: Overall:
I bet when you see 3 green arrows come up for Courtney Lee, you expect a siren to go off and coins to come pouring out of your monitor somehow. I’m going to look past a few of the misses because as we’ve...

Last week, we saw some pretty sweet kicks rocked by the Boston Celtics. IamJeffreyJason has put the spotlight on a few of them for another feature. We see Rajon Rondo in the Air Jordan “Cool Grey” IX, Paul Pierce in his Nike “Air Legacy 3″ and more. Be sure to check out I.A.J.J.’s new feature, “Is it the shoes?”
Well the Celtics showed that they still have some fight in them, but unfortunately it was not enough. When Humphries came crashing down on Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo immediately came to his defense. Then a bench clearing brawl ensued—a rarity in basketball. Whether or not Rondo should have done what he did is a different story. Some could say that he was a great teammate and a...
The Celtics closed out a game-heavy November with a blowout win at home that lead to increased playing time for Jared Sullinger. We also saw some action Joseph with the Celtics and from Melo as the Maine Red Claws played two more games, one of them matched up against the Lakers D-League affiliate the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Jeff Green had a break out game last night in the absence of Rajon Rondo. Jeff also broke out a pair of Cool Grey Jordan Brand Aero Flights. Jeff has been bouncing back and forth between Jordan and Nike this season.
Jordan Brand says the shoes “deliver the ultimate responsiveness for the versatile player”. They sound right up Jeff’s alley. What do you think of the Jordan...

Boston checks in at #13 in the latest edition of Marc Stein's NBA power rankings, down three spots from #10 last week. It seems about right for a 9-8 squad, but I have a gripe with the positions of two teams in front of the Celtics:
The 8-8 Bucks are #8 (although they were still 8-7 when the rankings were published), and they just beat the C...

Brandon Jennings buried a wide open three with 24 seconds left to give Milwaukee a 90-88 lead, and the Bucks held on for a 91-88 victory when Paul Pierce and Jason Terry both missed long three point attempts just before the final buzzer.
