The Boston Celtics reportedly instructed security guards not to allow Honey Nut Cheerios boxes or signs into the TD Bank Garden for the team’s game against the New York Knicks on Thursday.
The last time the teams played, Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Celtics forward Kevin Garnett got into a fight that resulted in double-technical fouls. Melo was so upset with KG he confronted him twice after the game.
It was reported that Garnett got in Melo’s head by telling him that his wife, La La, tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios. The odd yet humorous line was apparently an inference that Garnett had been with La La while she and Melo were separated.
Even though Celtics coach Doc Rivers denied anything was said about Honey Nut Cheerios, the potentially false story first reported by Black Sports Online has been accepted as fact. In light of the story’s widespread acceptance, the Celtics were expecting fans to break out the Honey Nut Cheerios taunts on Thursday.

Throughout the Celtics latest losing streak, there seems to be a lot of reflection going on within the team's locker room. A few days ago it was Doc Rivers questioning how bad the team 'wants it' and threatening to get rid of players if the team doesn't start winning. Last night Paul Pierce questioned the team's mental toughness. Among those currently in a state...
The rumor spreading around after the Celtics defeated the Knicks back in New York was that Kevin Garnett told Carmelo his wife tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios. This provoked Melo to wait outside the team bus to confront Garnett, an act he was later suspended for.
That rumor was obviously hilarious and, true or not, it turned into a national story, and soon after, material items....
BOSTON -- Carmelo Anthony and his Knicks teammates didn't know what to expect from the Celtics crowd in the first game between the two teams since Anthony and Garnett had their little spat on Jan. 7 in New York. Part of the NBA fans don’t get to see or understand is the amount of security detail that surrounds the team and star players, as well as personal bodyguards which is the case for many of the one-namers in the league; Kobe, LeBron, Kevin and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks is no exception via [...]The post Carmelo Anthony Bringing Extra Security, Body Guard Vs Celtics...
For the first time since 2006, the Knicks came away victorious in Boston on Thursday night. While such a win puts an end to such a frustrating and traumatizing losing streak, perhaps it also symbolizes why this a season is one more different than any other in recent years for the Knicks.Clearly an NBA powerhouse over the past few seasons, the Celtics have always seemed to have New...
BOSTON -- The first meeting between Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett since their nasty encounter on Jan. 7 in New York turned into just another night of misery for the floundering Celtics. Great to see Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony is a good sport. Check out Carmelo posing with a Boston celtics fan holding some Honey Nut Cheerios — He was even gracious enough to sign the kid’s box. That’s exactly how you handle the situation.-TO

Kevin Garnett: 24 Points, 10 Rebounds
Kevin Garnett gave us a great performance tonight, and it was unfortunately wasted. He rebounded well, shot well, and was only slowed down by fouls/minutes. He got gassed at the end, and his last two fouls were stupid...
