The Celtics shot 33 percent in the first half. They went down by nine midway through the third quarter. They were down six points with six minutes left.  Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce combined to hit just four of their first 23 field goal attempts. Pierce couldn’t hit the broad side of Vince Wilfork’s ass, so naturally he hit a dagger three and had five points in the final 1:34. Mickael Pietrus hasn’t hit a shot since 2011 and I was ready to kill him when he unleashed a fadeaway, off-the-dribble bomb in the first half, so of course he drilled two pivotal triples in the final quarter. Rondo shot just 3-15, but he had 13 assists and chased down two essential offensive rebounds in the fourth. KG started 1-7, but finished 11-20 with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Doc Rivers always says the Celtics don’t any significant margin for error. But maybe he’s entirely, 100 percent wrong. The Celtics don’t always need their best to win because they’re willing to tunnel their way through the depths of hell if they need to.

They just never die, and now they’re one win from the NBA Finals.
