Found April 06, 2012 on Celtics Life:
The battles between the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics are always epic with these two teams practically being mirror images of each other.  Tonight, the Bulls got the better of the two with a 93-86 victory over the Celtics, coming off a tough loss last night in Boston. Boston did a great job in the first half coming out with energy.  Often pushing the tempo with Avery Bradley starting, while Ray Allen coming off the bench paid dividends with a first quarter lead.  No basket in this game came easy with the style of defense both teams play.  Each point was earned as a last man standing battle was unfurling. In the second quarter is where most of the damage done by the Celtics occurred.  Finish the quarter strong was the most impressive aspect of this quarter allowing Boston to head into halftime with an eleven point lead.  Rebounding has not been an issue in this game so far for the Celtics, however, the Celtics continue to struggle getting to the free throw line. The third qua...

Ray approached Doc about coming off the bench

Boston Herald The NBA had a small tremor last night. Avery Bradley started, which is no longer news. But the player who came off the bench in his stead, Ray Allen, was a sub for only the fifth time in his career — with last night the 1,145th game of the Celtics [team stats] guard’s career. As it turns out, Allen approached Doc Rivers about making the change. The Celtics veteran...

Maybe Avery Bradley will start for Ray Allen after all

Starting Avery Bradley ahead of Ray Allen once seemed outrageous, then it began to look like an intelligent decision, then Doc Rivers said it might happen, then Rivers squashed all chances of it happening, and now Rivers has said it might actually happen, with Ray Allen saying he’d be alright with the change. If you feel like you’ve just gone 12 rounds with a dizzy bat, find...

Avery Bradley started in Ray Allen’s spot last night

Forget for a second the team vision it took for Ray Allen to meet with Doc Rivers and tell his coach he’s alright with coming off the bench behind a 21-year old with a 9.72 PER. Forget that he said the following about his attitude toward becoming a reserve for the first time of his career: (Boston Herald)“Well, people were talking about it,” he said after the Celtics’ 93...

Doc reconsidering who to start at shooting guard tonight

Um, we need 5 out there, so am I starting or not?  Boston Globe Ray Allen could return to the starting lineup against San Antonio Wednesday night. However, the Celtics have compiled a five-game winning streak while Allen recovers from an ankle injury, and coach Doc Rivers said the coaching staff has considered bringing Allen off the bench. “We think about stuff like that all...

Your Morning Dump... Where Ray Allen is the ultimate professional

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “The way it’s been, that first six or seven minutes I’m kind of floating a little bit, and that’s how I’ve been for the last few months,” said Allen. “The second unit gives me the ability to...

Ray Allen Empowered to Be More Aggressive Off Bench for Celtics

Ray Allen technically made his return two games ago, but he was not truly back until Saturday. Allen looked plenty comfortable coming off the bench for the second time in as many games, dropping 19 points to lead all reserves in the Celtics' 86-72 win over the Indiana Pacers. The most-asked question since Avery Bradley shifted into the starting lineup was: How can the Celtics...

It’s Official: Ray Allen is a go against the Spurs

I eluded to this is my preview of tonight’s game, but late this afternoon it was up in the air again. Now A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com is reporting that Ray will in fact play against San Antonio tonight. It has been speculated that when Allen did return, it may not be to the starting [...]

Ray Allen's Rustiness No Surprise to Celtics in Guard's Return From Six-Game Absence

BOSTON -- Doc Rivers has seen too much of Ray Allen in the last five years to be very impressed or surprised when the veteran sharpshooter drills yet another clutch shot. Allen has hit both daggers and prayers in the playoffs, in All-Star games and in the NBA Finals. Seeing Allen sprint along the baseline for one of his vintage corner 3-pointers to pull the Celtics within one point...

Celtics Welcome the Spurs to the Garden Tonight

The Boston Celtics will have Ray Allen back in the lineup tonight as they welcome Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs to the TD Garden. The Celtics will be going for their 6th straight win as the Spurs will try to go for 9 straight. In fact, the Spurs only lost 3 games in March. [...]

Celtics May Keep Starting Bradley After Allen's Return

Ray Allen could return from injury on Wednesday and his new role could be coming off the bench.

Recap: Celtics survive in Indiana

The Celtics apparently responded to Doc River's tirade by coming out strong and building a 24-19 first quarter lead, and extending that to 43-33 at the half.  The lead, amazingly, was built on 28 bench points courtesy of 10 points each from Greg Stiemsma and Ray Allen and 8 from Sasha Pavlovic.   The second half was an ugly, disjointed, most poorly officiated mess of a half...

Your Morning Dump... Doc rips the team for its crappy effort

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. "I had to use two timeouts in the first half to remind us that we actually had an NBA game to play and that we needed to play," a ruffled Rivers told reporters in Chicago. "I thought that was...

Comments from the other side - Bulls 4/5

So much Rondo hate from the Bulls.  But they sure love Ray Allen.  I want him back in Boston even if it's so he doesn't go to the Bulls.  What a snarky bunch of fans. And Joakim Noah is one of my least favorite players.  He tries against the Celtics because he hates KG and then gives half effort other times?  They can keep him.  Oh, he's ugly to boot.   The Celtics...

Avery Bradley Already Has Leg Up on Many Second-Year Players by Making His Teammates Better

The education of Avery Bradley has moved beyond general studies portion and into the advanced theories section. It began with suffocating defense, the same way a scrawny 14-year-old at the end of the junior varsity bench would try to earn more playing time. It became something more than a novelty act when Bradley started cutting to the rim and scoring in bunches. In the past two...
