Found October 05, 2013 on Pass The Pill:
PLAYERS: Danny Ainge
TEAMS: Boston Celtics

image from:espn.go.com Many people believe that this upcoming 2014 NBA draft is one of the strongest drafts in recent memory due to the number of players who can turn a franchise around. However, Celtics GM Danny Ainge doesn’t believe that such a player exists in this upcoming draft. Via Ian Thomson of Sports Illustrated: “If Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was out there to change your franchise forever, or Tim Duncan was going to change your franchise for 15 years? That might be a different story,” said Ainge. “I don’t see that player out there.” While perhaps hall of famers like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Tim Duncan aren’t in this upcoming draft, I’m pretty sure that Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker are really talented young players that have the potential to be that good. Ainge’s remarks seem to be made with the purpose of reiterating that the Celtics aren’t tanking, and by saying these kinds of words, Ainge hopes to dispel all rumors and speculation of tanking. In other words, I doubt he’s being totally honest and candid with his comments here. —Ben Parker: follow me on twitter @nba_lord    The post Celtics GM Danny Ainge Doesn’t See A Franchise Changing Player In The 2014 NBA Draft appeared first on Pass The Pill - Kings of Hoops.

Danny Ainge doesn't believe Andew Wiggins is worth the Celtics tanking for

The outlook for the Boston Celtics this season is bleak at best. The proud franchise has lost many of its star players and is left with a roster full of young and unproven talent. Naturally, this has many Celtics fans looking to the future, and clamoring for the team to "tank" this year in hopes of perhaps landing Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins. Just don't expect...

Gerald Wallace: Human Didgeridoo Goes Viral - The Garden Report

So when we posted our footage of Gerald Wallace from Celtics Media Day, we wanted to introduce you to the newest Celtics players. But when reddit noticed his voice sounds exactly like a didgeridoo, the video went viral and got 300,000 views Thursday night. It even went to #1 on Reddit! With that, of course, came plenty of hilarious parody videos. Here are some of the best and be...

Brad Stevens to use multiple starting lineups

Brad Stevens has yet to announce what the Boston Celtic's starting lineup will be this season. Not surprisingly, we found out today that there is no right answer. The starters will be shifting based on what Coach Stevens sees on the floor. Here is some of what Stevens had to say after Sunday's practice (courtesy of celtics.com): “You can look into it as much as you...

Ainge drills home point on Stevens

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge began training camp last week believing he had just hired the best coach in college basketball to lead his team for the next six years. But even a process-driven guy like Brad Stevens isn’t going to turn a week of drills into basketball artistry. “Camp is camp” Ainge said yesterday when asked about his initial impressions...

Celtkicks: Rajon wears new Anta colorway at Sunday’s practice

Rajon Rondo has recently been spotted wearing a black & green “away” colorway of a new shoe from Anta. Even though the Chinese sneaker company has yet to confirm they’ve signed Rajon, it’s becoming clear he’ll be wearing the company’s kicks this season. Today at Celtics practice, he was seen in a white & green “home” version of the same shoe. My sneaker spies...

Celtics aim to develop talent, not tank for more

For six years the question was whether the Celtics would win the championship. Now Danny Ainge finds himself overseeing a far less promising environment. All of the big names who played for or coached the championship team of 2007-08 are now in Los Angeles or Miami or Brooklyn or (in the case of Rajon Rondo) on indefinite leave. Instead of trying to win should they now be trying...

Why I Haven't Sold My Season Tickets: A Preseason Eve Look at the 2013-14 Season

The 2013-14 Boston Celtics have been under a magnifying class since the All-Star break of 2012. It was that time of year again- the All-Star Break aka when people start shouting their opinions as loud as possible. Celtics fans topic-hopped from wondering why more Celtics weren’t in All-Star discussions, to what free agents Boston should target in the off-season, to asking what...

Gerald Wallace is a walking didgeridoo

The new-look Boston Celtics had their team media day yesterday and one of the new faces to arrive this summer, Gerald Wallace, took the podium to address the media about his new team. Someone online made the connection that Wallace’s deep and mumbling voice sounds a lot like a didgeridoo, and once you get a listen you may never be able to unhear it.   The post Gerald Wallace...

Darko Milicic Is Now Carp Fishing In Central Italy

Before we get started, we have to say that “carp fishing in central Italy” sounds like a very real threat an NBA coach might direct towards an underachieving player trying to make a roster. As in, “Hey, Darko, if you don’t shape up, by this time next year you’ll be carp fishing in Italy!” Well, noted NBA draft bust Darko Milicic is doing exactly that. As we speak, Darko...

The Return of Rondo: The Jump Shot Upgrade

We saw on Media Day just how much conditioning Rajon Rondo has been doing during his recovery from a torn ACL. What we didn’t see that day, was the work Rondo has been putting into his jump shot. Now that training camp is underway, non-contact drills have been keeping RR involved. Working with new assistant coach Ron Adams, Rondo opted to miss the team bus on Tuesday, working on...

Your Morning Dump..Where Brad Stevens Is Willing To Learn

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. The Boston Celtics’ new head coach Brad Stevens joined Jim Rome Friday morning on CBS Sports Radio. Rome started off by asking Stevens about what it’s been like working with Rondo so far. Stevens’ reply was...

Brandon Bass’ defense garners attention

Compared to past years when Kevin Garnett’s salty vernacular dominated the training camp wavelength Celtics practice has lost its NC-17 rating. “It’s different I would say that” said Brandon Bass smiling at the civil contrast in Brad Stevens’ practices. But if this team is going to develop some defensive cohesion Garnett’s communication skills have to be re-created...

Fab Melo: Celtics 'Didn't Give Me A Chance'

Fab Melo was traded by the Boston Celtics in the offseason despite being the organization's first round pick in the 2012 NBA draft. In Melo's mind, he was never given the opportunity to earn a role on the Celtics. "They didn’t give me a chance," Melo said of his rookie season with the Celtics. "Even in practice I wasn’t getting a chance." The Dallas...
