Dana Barros wore #13 in his second stint with Boston. ESPN's weekly Monday edition of the Marc Stein NBA power rankings is out, and the Celtics have moved up  four more spots from last week, now at #13.  Looking at the teams above them, one could argue Boston should be as high as #9 this week.  The C's torched #12 Portland on Nov. 30th, just handled the #11 Rockets on Friday, blew out the #10 Nets on Christmas Day, and won at #9 New York without Rajon Rondo a week ago. Boston's next 3 contests are all at home; tonight against Charlotte, Wednesday vs. New Orleans, and Friday the Bulls come to town.  Sunday the Celtics head to Detroit, but still a very winnable game.  If the C's can run the table this week and extend their streak to 9 straight, we should see some major movement in the rankings next Monday. Your Morning Dump..Where Rondo nets triple-double in new Nike basketball shoe

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Rajon Rondo dropped his 26th career triple-double last night with 17 pts, 12 assists & 10 boards in Boston’s 100-89 win over Charlotte. At first glance, they appeared to be the Nike Hyperdunk. Turns out he...

Rondo has crazy pregame routine

Boston Celtics guard Jason Terry described Rajon Rondo's extensive pregame ritual during a recent interview. See what it entails.

Rajon Rondo stars in latest ESPN SportsCenter commercial

I’m a blogger, so I have opinions on things that I don’t actually understand like advertising and commercials. Here are my thoughts:Positives:It’s Rajon Rondo. The whole “athletes wearing their uniforms to work” thing has always slayed me, for whatever reason.Steve Levy calling John Anderson “dude” is inexplicably funny to me too.Rondo’s double-take as Anderson is...

Video: Rajon Rondo stars in new SportsCenter commercial

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has really, really big hands. That is the message received after watching the latest "This is SportsCenter" commercial. After holding a team meeting, the SportsCenter crew makes it a point to shake Rondo's hands as they leave. Anchor Steve Levy advises colleague John Anderson not to look down when he shakes Rondo's hands. He...

The Triple Double King

Rajon Rondo was a man on a mission last night as he powered the C's to a 100-89 win over the Bobcats with 17 points, 10 boards and 12 dimes - his third triple-double of the season and 26th of his career (including playoffs).  Rondo's 26 triple-doubles ranks fourth among active players - behind only Jason Kidd (107), LeBron (41) and Grant Hill (29). At the pace at which...

Rajon Rondo records latest triple-double and gives credit to himself, the media, and Keyon Dooling

(h/t to WEEI’s Ben Rohrbach for the video)This was a typical Rondo post-game interview, with perhaps a little more sass, and there was certainly no smiling.  It seems like he is constantly trying to make reporters uncomfortable in a long standing power struggle between players and the media.  Mix some orneriness, with a dash of irritability, and sprinkle some justified and unjustified...

Rondo’s Interesting Pre-Game Routine

Jason Terry on the most unique pre-game ritual: ”Rajon Rondo, for sure. His routine is long-winded and it lasts all the way through tip-off. It starts in the back hallway. He runs down a corridor and he throws the ball to our team chaplain, who throws it back. Then [Rondo] runs out into a circle, high-fives the whole team and then he does the layup lines for five minutes. “Then...

Rondo Stars In New “This Is SportsCenter” Commercial

Rajon Rondo stars in the new “This Is SportsCenter” commercial where his big hands are the talk of the office:

Beantown Beatdown

Here we see MKG and Rondo in a push-up contest.  MKG was the winner, completing 103 push-ups. Recently the Bobcats effort has been...lacking to say the least. But have no fear!  Up until this point, the Cats are 1-0 when I write the recap.  You're welcome guys. Would the Bobcats come out of the Garden with a W? Keep reading to find out...   ...

Rudy Gay Says Rajon Rondo Wants Him in Boston

I realize that we’ve been reporting on Rudy Gay trade rumors like we’re ESPN covering Tim Tebow, but here’s a nice quote from Rudy Gay himself on the response he’s been getting from other players when he speaks with them about all of the trade talk (courtesy of SlamOnline.com via Yahoo! Sports): “It’s hard to talk to [Rondo] because he is always saying, ‘We need you...

Good enough: Boston Celtics beat Charlotte Bobcats 100-89

The Celtics don’t blow bad teams away.We know this by now. It has been the case since 2008 when the Hawks inexplicably took the Celtics to seven games in the first round of the playoffs. For whatever reason, whether it be motivation or something else, Boston just doesn’t blow out very many teams. Instead, they grind things out, lose a few games that they shouldn’t lose, and...
