This has been a newsworthy week for the Boston Celtics. First, the Celtics announced that their games will no longer be aired on WEEI. All of the Celtics games have been broadcast on WEEI since 2005 with Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell providing the commentary on the radio. WEEI and the Celtics were unable to reach an agreement as the contract expired on Tuesday.  Then, the Celtics hired former forward Walter McCarty as an assistant coach on Brad Stevens’ staff. The past couple of months have been mostly quiet for the Celtics. Fans and media do not know what to expect from the Celtics this year. Here are a couple of tweets from current Celtics players who are helping out in the community and preparing for the 2013-’14 season: Thank you @celtics and @Avery_Bradley for spending the morning with us volunteering! pic.twitter.com/5OabakjLbm — Cradles to Crayons (@c2cboston) August 21, 2013 Avery Bradley spent time volunteering at Cradles to Crayons in Quincy on Wednesday morning. He put together 400 bags of clothes, toys, books, and shoes for kids in need. Bradley has been active this offseason. The third-year guard hosted his Pro-Am tournament near Seattle earlier this month and then he helped the youth in Boston. I really enjoyed my time in the bean. Thanks to all my supporters. God bless you all. — Fab Melo (@Fabpmelo) August 18, 2013 Fab Melo thanked his supporters for his time in Boston. Melo was traded last week to the Memphis Grizzlies along with cash considerations for Donte Greene. Melo was the 22nd overall pick in 2012 by the Celtics and he spent one year with the Celtics where he played for the majority of the year in the NBA Development League with the Maine Red Claws. Celtics will pay Memphis more than Melo's salary for taking him off our hands

Hoopsworld Boston’s primary goal in the trade was to get under the luxury tax threshold, which likely means Greene is waived by the team before the season begins. Boston drafted Melo in 2012 with the 22nd overall pick but they dumped him to get out of the tax. No we're not getting the bag of Doritos for Fab. We have to throw them in to get rid of Fab.   The Celtics may not be very good this season..but they are kings of the NBA in at least one extremely important category: Uniforms. Ok so maybe it's not that important.
