Found March 15, 2012 on State Of The Celtics:

With the trade deadline just hours away and numerous rumors hanging over the heads of the Celtics, Danny Ainge said that the possibility of a deal of any kind going down is pretty much up in the air. (ESPN Boston)

“I think it’s 50-50, but it may be a small deal,” he said in an interview Thursday morning on Boston sports radio station WEEI. "It may be not as exciting as people may expect. But we’re working hard, we’ll work hard the rest of the day until 3’oclock.”

“I have no desire to move anybody on our team,” Ainge said. "It’s just I have to look and so far I have nothing. We don’t have anything that we’re really excited about right now. If somebody steps up and ups their offers today who knows what might happen by the trade deadline. But I am prepared and comfortable with letting the season play out. If somebody wants to throw in first-round draft picks or give quality young players, that’s something we have to consider.”

To be honest, I'm shocked that the chances of a trade are this high. Ainge isn't going to give these guys away and I find it difficult to believe that any GM — with the exception of Otis Smith, who would probably trade Amway Center for a player to be named later — would give the Celtics anything besides the expiring contracts of stiffs who would make Mikki Moore look like a perennial All-Star in exchange for the expiring deals of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. Nobody wants to take on Paul Pierce's contract and Rajon Rondo isn't garnering the type of offer that Ainge is looking for.

Could Ainge make a minor move to bring in a big man since all of ours are predictably injured? It could happen, but with the Celtics currently playing some of their best basketball of the season, I don't know if Ainge would want to jeopardize the Celtics' mojo for that right now. I suspect that he'll wait until the buyout season hits to make a move on a big.

This year's trade deadline should be much less earth-shattering, blood-boiling and controversial than last year's. What the heck are we going to talk about tonight?

Ainge: Boston Celtics worked on trade offers until three minutes before trade deadline

The Boston Celtics did not make a single trade at the NBA trade deadline, opting instead to return for the second half of the season with the roster intact. But Danny Ainge was still active in searching for the right trading partner. Until 2:57 p.m., Ainge worked his cell phone. (ESPN)“I guess what prevented any trade was making at least two teams in a deal happy, or satisfied...

NBA trade rumors: Ainge says ’50-50′ whether Celtics make a deal by NBA trade deadline

Danny Ainge said it’s ’50-50′ whether the Celtics make a deal by the trade deadline. But if they do make a deal, it might not be a blockbuster. (ESPN via WEEI)“I think it’s 50-50, but it may be a small deal,” he said in an interview Thursday morning on Boston sports radio station WEEI. “It may be not as exciting as people may expect. But we’re working hard, we...

QuickVid: Danny Ainge on Jermaine O’Neal

Something seem totally not right about this entire blurb from Jackie Mac and Danny Ainge. Danny is very cryptic in his responses about Jermaine and seems to be totally out of the “know.” Check it out for yourself. From CSNNE:

NBA trade deadline goes, Boston Celtics Core Four still intact

Danny Ainge did just what he should have at the trade deadline. He called opposing GMs, looked for steals that would help the Celtics in the future, and ultimately decided the Celtics are in a good place regardless.I don’t know about you, but I’m hyped that the Big Three are returning at least for the rest of the season. Even if the Celtics aren’t contenders.P.S. – If Jermaine...

NBA GM on Danny Ainge: '**** him'

Damn, what did Danny Ainge do this time?

Ainge Explored Trades As Both Buyer, Seller

Danny Ainge worked on a variety of trade scenarios both big and small, but was unable to execute a deal.

Paul Pierce trade rumors: Danny Ainge offered Pierce to Portland Trail Blazers

When reporters spoke to the Boston Celtics before yesterday’s game against the Golden St. Warriors, Paul Pierce joked with them about still being in Boston as the trade deadline approached. Reporters thought he was kidding, and he probably was, but the comments might have had serious undertones.According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard (Insider), the Celtics offered Paul Pierce to...

Ray Allen still desired by several teams at NBA trade deadline

As Woj reports, the Celtics are listening to offers. And if they get one Danny Ainge feels comfortable signing off on, they’re going to take it. Nobody is safe from Ainge’s maneuvers, but the key is whether he finds a suitable trade. He knows that standing pat is good for the future too. Here’s what Doc Rivers had to say about the Celtics’ objectives as the NBA trade deadline...

No Moves For Celtics, Bruins Blasted Again

Danny Ainge stood pat at the trading deadline yesterday, and the Bruins were blasted 6-2 by the Florida Panthers. The Celtics not making a move was a mild surprise, if only for Ainge’s past history at this period. Michael Felger and Chris Gasper were mocking Ainge yesterday for not making a move, even dumping their big three for draft picks. Once again, especially Felger,  shows...

Report: Celtics offered Pierce to Portland

Color me skeptical... but's out there. While Boston Celtics boss Danny Ainge has said Rajon Rondo will not be traded, he is still actively seeking offers for members of the Big Three. The Celtics offered Paul Pierce to Portland -- I'm not sure what they asked for in return -- but the Blazers were not interested because of the two years and $32 million remaining...

What in the world is going on with Jermaine O’Neal?

Jermaine O’Neal re-aggravated a wrist injury on Feb. 20. That’s almost a month ago. Since then, there hasn’t been a single real update to his status except, “Well, there’s a chance he gets season-ending surgery, but he also might just get a cortisone shot, but really, nobody knows anything for certain.”There was a rumor yesterday, from the highly reputable Adrian...

Rondo's staying, but is anyone coming?

CSNNE A number of Boston Celtics players will continue to be the subject of trade rumors up until the 3 p.m. deadline on Thurday. But there's one player that isn't going anywhere - Rajon Rondo. "Rondo's not being traded," Danny Ainge, Boston's president of basketball operations, told prior to the Celtics facing the Los Angeles Clippers. "...

C’s better by doing nothing?

The NBA trade deadline has come and gone, and all the same guys are still here.  I’d like to that Danny Ainge for listening to me.  Everybody’s main concern now about the Celtics is their lack of big men; Greg Stiemsma is the only active true center on the roster.  But recent numbers show it might not be as great a problem as people think.  Since the All-Star break Boston...

Apocalypse Now: last days for Boston Celtics’ big three?

Despite the team’s struggles and general managerDanny Ainges’ constant trade threats, the Boston Celtics were not able to pullthe trigger on any trades before the trade deadline on Thursday. That doesn’t mean that Boston’s management is happy with theroster as currently constructed, it just means that they didn’t receive anytrade offers they felt would make the team better...
