Paul Pierce came up big late against the ClippersI know two things to be true about the 2013 Celtics. The first: If something is too good to be true (ie. a first half offensive explosion and lockdown defense), it likely is. The second: No lead is safe, specifically no lead under 20.Boston tried VERY hard to lose the game in the fourth quarter this afternoon, blowing all but two points of a 19-point second half lead. The Clippers came storming back by playing excellent defense and driving hard to the basket, especially Eric Bledsoe who scored 23 points on 9-15 shooting. But the Celtics, after being suffocated defensively for much of the fourth quarter, were able to get two clutch baskets from Jason Terry and Paul Pierce in the final minute to come away with the win. Some bullet points:Paul Pierce’s last shot, an isolation step-back three pointer over Matt Barnes, would have drawn heavy criticism if he had missed it. But in that particular scenario, it was the right decision to isolate...

Your Morning Dump… Where Pierce is like the guy from 300

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pierce doesn’t call the shots, but he does have a preference if his bosses make a move. “Maybe we can use some more depth at the big spot after losing Sullinger,” Pierce said. He made it clear, though, that...

Recap: Paul Pierce saves bipolar Celtics from heartbreaking loss

Is this team bipolar or what? The Celtics tuned up the Clippers with 59 points in the first half. The offense was crisp, efficient and just plain smart. The defense was solid and the Clippers helped by playing sloppy. The combination resulted in a 19 point halftime lead. The second half was the exact opposite. The defense evaporated. The offense stopped. No movement. Sloppy passing...

Paul Pierce, Celtics Escape With Victory But Blown Lead Offers Reminder That They Cannot Let Up

BOSTON — Paul Pierce’s shot went through the hoop and the crowd erupted, cheering wildly for a fourth straight victory by the Celtics. Amid the cheers, though, there had to be quite a few folks just sighing in relief, because this game turned out to be a lot more interesting than it had to be. Before Pierce’s 3-pointer nestled into the net with 2.5 seconds remaining to clinch...

Your Morning Dump… Where this is Truth’s house

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “He’s the original Celtic and we go how he goes,” Garnett said. “And nights when he’s not going, we try to obviously support him and help him. But this is Truth’s house, and there’s never been a misunderstanding...

Doc, Pierce, and KG discuss 'silly' trade rumors

Awesome round of quotes today from Celtics coach Doc Rivers, captain Paul Pierce, and center Kevin Garnett on the ongoing trade rumors that seem to pop up by the day. The most recent round of rumors have Kevin Garnett heading to Los Angeles for Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe and forward Caron Butler. What do the Celtics think of these rumors? Let's start with Doc. All from (the...

Kevin Garnett will only waive no-trade clause if Paul Pierce is traded also

Told Kevin Garnett will not waive no trade unless Pierce is dealt, and then only to LA. Lives in Malibu.about 13 hours ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite@Powell2daPeopleShaun PowellThis is far from a surprise, but it’s still something nice to note: Kevin Garnett, who has made it abundantly clear that he wants to end his career in Boston, will reportedly only accept a trade if Pierce...

Rondo-less Celtics Looking to Remain Competitive: Win Three in a Row!

Perhaps team captain Paul Pierce said it best after last Sunday’s thrilling and gritty 102-100 2OT win over the defending champion Miami Heat on national TV…When told that Rondo had a torn ACL that would sideline him for the season Pierce expressed his frustration and then immediately stated…”Guys are gonna have to step up! That’s all I can say!” Luckily, step up is exactly...

Boston Celtics: Time to Sell. But not Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce.

With the recent news that Jared Sullinger will be out for the rest of the season, joining superstar point guard, Rajon Rondo, all hope of contention is lost. They could make a big trade to acquire talent, but it would cost all of their valuable pieces and long-term cap space, which is why Rudy Gay is not in Boston and why Josh Smith will not be in green either. With a healthy Rajon...

Green Envy: What Clippers Fans Said - 2/3/13

The Boston Celtics finished off their four-game homestand Sunday afternoon with a win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The 106-104 victory was the Celtics' fourth-straight, and they have now won each game following Rajon Rondo's ACL injury. Paul Pierce's 22 points led the way for the Celtics, who withstood a furious fourth-quarter comeback bid by the Clippers. Let's...

Clippers' comeback falls short vs. Celtics

BOSTON (AP) -- Paul Pierce scored 22 points and the Boston Celtics held off a late comeback to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 106-104 on Sunday and improve to 4-0 since losing Rajon Rondo for the season. The Clippers had cut a five-point deficit to 103-101 on a 3-pointer by Eric Bledsoe with 56 seconds remaining. But Avery Bradley drew an offensive foul on Los Angeles' Jamal...

ESPN: Trade possibilities for KG and Pierce

A recent ESPN 5-on-5 discussed some of the trade possibilities Boston could make in dealing Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce. These are just suggestions and only two have actually been brought up as rumor. 1. What's the best Kevin Garnett trade the Celtics can make? Israel Gutierrez, ESPN.com: Garnett and Fab Melo to Chicago for Joakim Noah and Marco Belinelli. No trade at all...

Comments from the Other Side - Magic 2/1

What would a Comments post be without a wheelchair mention and some officiating complaints.   Seems like they are in every thread.  Love that our bench is producing so well these past few games.   I was stuck with the Magic feed last night.  I missed Mike and Tommy but even worse, they kept getting the names of the Celtics wrong.   I've highlighted my favorites.  What...

Kevin Garnett on Trade Rumors: “I Bleed Green, But It’s a Business”

I am on record saying that the Celtics window has closed and it is time to blow up the team. KG and Paul Pierce would be considered valuable assets to teams who are in a position to make a NBA Finals run.  Every trade should be explored by Danny Ainge at this point. KG has a no trade clause, but from these quotes it appears if the right trade came around he would be interested....

The hits keep coming as Celtics smother Magic

Late in the second quarter, Jameer Nelson went up for a floater, doing all he could to keep the Magic afloat in a poor offensive first half. The shot hit off the back iron and Paul Pierce went up for it grabbing the rebound. Nelson tried to be sneaky and make a play on the ball. Only Pierce's elbow came down hard on Nelson's forearm. Nelson doubled over in pain as Boston...
